Book: Alex and Eliza
by Melissa De La Cruz

Calling all Hamilton fans! Have I got a good read for you! This story is the first in a series of three books featuring the ultimate couple Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler. When her mother throws a ball to find a suitable groom for her daughters Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy (admit it, you sang their names), Eliza meets the eloquent Alexander Hamilton.
Their first meeting is not a friendly one as when they dance Alex steps on poor Eliza’s toes, literally! This story is definitely one of my favorites because I love Hamilton and historical fiction novels. I once again fell in love with the characters and the story and maybe you will too!
Teen Author Spotlight
Each newsletter will feature a different teen writer. In this edition, Dylan (8th grade) gives a sneak peek of his story.

“Argh! I can’t shake ‘em!!” James was trying every maneuver he could think of, but the Enforcement troops were still hot on their trail.
“Just try to hold ‘em off until I can activate the weapons!” Axe was frantically trying to hotwire the weapons system with little luck. Sparks flew.
“Crap!! Hold ‘em off a little longer!! I need more time!!”
Suddenly, the weapons came to life.

“That’s what I’m talking about!” Axe said under his breath. He leapt into the gunpod and immediately began firing at the Enforcement troops. Red electro bolts flew from the Enforcement’s weapons, while green electro bolts blazed to life from the Valiant Eagle. Each time the Eagle took a hit, Axe felt his stomach lurch. C’mon, baby, don’t let me down! He thought. But Axe and James were at an advantage. With each hit they took, Axe fired upon the one who had hit them and blew them straight to the nether world. Finally, thanks to some fancy flying by James, Axe was able to pick off the final Enforcement fighter.

If you chose mostly B, you’re like Green. You’re sneaky, sly and cunning, and you excel at evolving your pokemon and fooling your enemies.

If you chose mostly C, you’re like Blue. As the grandson of Prof. Oak, he is often targeted by enemies of the professor. No matter what happens, you stay calm and think things through.

If you chose mostly D, you’re like Red. He is a cheerful, yet impulsive young man, who occasionally acts before he thinks. Your emotions tend to get the better of you when your friends are in danger, but you fight with everything you have to protect them!
