Published authors and artists of extremely relatable content, you've more than likely seen both of their works in your jaunts around the internet. Selections of both authors' books will be sold at the event by Sidetrack Bookshop Sarah Anderson is the New York Times Bestselling author of Sarah's Scribbles, Fangs, and Cryptid Club. Reza Farazmand is the New York Times Bestselling author of Poorly Drawn Lines, and its delightful ilk, as well as City Monsters.

Tuesday, August 6 at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium Experience the visual history and legends of Greece and Turkey through the travels of Al Eicher! Al has traveled to over 50 locations in these countries visiting sites of the early civilizations. He also traveled to the islands of Mykonos, Crete, Patmos, Petra and Santorini. This lecture and visual presentation captures spectacular views of the ancient ruins, snow capped mountains and stories of Greek mythology. The presentation gives the audience a front row seat, including the sights and sounds of cruising to the islands and climbing to the Acropolis sites of many old cities. Registration is Required.

Friday, August 9 at 4:00 PM in the Makerspace Mixed media painting offers a widely flexible art system that can incorporate one or many of your artistic passions, from drawing and painting, to collage and composition. Go wild with the ability to grasp, add, and amend whatever it seems your painting needs or can use. Materials that will be provided are: Acrylics, Watercolor, Colored Pencils, Markers, Crayons, Permanent Markers, Fabric Markers, Collage Materials (vintage books, old papers, music sheets, puzzle pieces, and photos). Canvas and construction paper will be provided as well. Registration is Required.

Tuesday, August 13 at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium Chef Val returns for another in person event and will demonstrate how to prepare a Vegan Summer Picnic. The menu includes Tofu Cucumber Sandwiches and Tempeh Sauerkraut Roll Ups. Adventure over to the library to learn how to create this delicious organic summer meal.

What creates our unique landscapes and gives our area a special sense of place? How do our native plants and wildlife give our local ecosystems an intrinsic character and identity? How do invasive species homogenize our world, harm our wildlife, and destroy this sense of place? Learn how you can help plant native species to create your backyard nature preserve and connect and expand our local green spaces. Think globally and act locally to protect our uniquely beautiful home.

Wild Rehab Saturday, August 24 at 2:00 PM in the Auditorium Join the Howell Nature Center in learning about wildlife rehabilitation, with the help of two of their wildlife ambassadors - animals that can no longer be returned to nature - connect a little more to our wonderful world! As Michigan’s largest wildlife rehabilitator, the Howell Nature Center treats thousands of wild animals every year — from common to endangered species — with the hope of returning these animals to their homes in the wild. But what does wildlife rehabilitation entail? Learn more about threats to wildlife, what we do, and what you can do to help.
