Sew it Begins

Thurs, May 7, 4-5PM
 
Get creative and learn a fun new skill in this beginner-friendly sewing class just for kids! Participants will start by learning basic hand-sewing techniques as they stitch together an adorable donut keychain—perfect for backpacks or gifts. Then, they’ll get a hands-on introduction to using a sewing machine to create their very own zippered pencil case. Along the way, kids will build confidence, practice fine motor skills, and explore their creativity in a supportive, playful environment. No experience needed—all materials provided!
Ven a crear y a aprender una nueva destreza en esta clase de costura perfecta para principiantes, ¡creada especialmente para  peques! Al participar, comenzarás por aprender las técnicas básicas de la costura a mano, mientras elaboras un adorable llavero con forma de dona que unirás con puntadas—perfecto para tu mochila o para hacer un regalo. Después, tendrás una introducción práctica a la manera de operar una máquina de coser para crear tu propio estuche para lápices con cierre. Al participar en esta clase aumentarás tu confianza, practicarás tu destreza manual y explorarás tu creatividad en un ambiente divertido y de apoyo. No se requiere experiencia previa. Todos los materiales serán provistos.

Raising a Reader- Aspen to Parachute invites you to our "Little Red Bag Club" for parents and their 0-5 year old children who are not enrolled in school. Join us for a weekly hour of story time, activities and snacks. These classes support brain development and social skills, and are led in Spanish. 
Raising a Reader- Aspen to Parachute te invita a nuestro club de Bolsitas Rojas, diseñado para padres de familia y peques entre los 0 y 5 años de edad que aún no estén inscritos en la escuela. Acompáñanos durante una hora semanal con cuentos, actividades y refrigerios. ¡Estas clases respaldan el desarrollo cerebral y las aptitudes sociales de los peques y se dirigen en español!

Designed for all ages, we will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Sitting still is not a requirement for storytime. Young children can reap the benefits of storytelling and songs even while wandering.
Disfrutaremos de historias, canciones y juegos que combinan las rimas con el movimiento. La capacidad de permanecer inmóviles no es una expectativa para la hora de los cuentos, puesto que los beneficios de la narrativa y la música siguen siendo de gran beneficio incluso para peques que prefieren explorar mientras escuchan. El programa será facilitado en inglés.

The ‘Move with Me’ Program is designed to introduce littles to the joys of dance. Using fun, interactive music, props, and make-believe, we will practice listening to music, following directions, and moving our bodies to the beats! 
El programa ‘Move with Me’ está diseñado para introducir a los peques a la alegría de bailar. Utilizando música divertida e interactiva, diversos accesorios y nuestra imaginación, practicaremos ciertas capacidades como escuchar música, seguir instrucciones y mover nuestros cuerpos al ritmo del compás.

A special story time where books come to life through American Sign Language! Children will enjoy a read-aloud that is also signed, helping them see how stories can be told with both voice and hands. This program encourages curiosity, communication, and inclusivity—everyone is welcome! For children ages 3 years to 7 years old.
Una hora de cuentos especial, en la cual los libros cobrarán vida ¡a través del lenguaje por señas! Después del cuento, estas personitas aprenderán algunas señas básicas en una mini-lección perfecta para principiantes. Kids ages 6-11 are invited to explore, experiment, and create in our monthly Open Art Studio.  This drop-in program offers a variety of art materials and creative stations where children can make art at their own pace - no instructions, no pressure, just imagination and fun.  All materials provided.

Uncover even more fun with a temporary tattoo booth and a dinosaur scavenger hunt throughout the library. Enjoy classic summer favorites like hamburgers and hot dogs while you dance, play, and unearth new stories and adventures. This free event is the perfect way to launch a summer of reading, discovery, and fun—come ready to dig in and make some bubbly memories!
