Events for All Ages!
Chick Hatching
Wednesday, October 1st to Tuesday, October 21st, All Day
London Public Library Children's Library
Keep watch on eggs we have in an incubator over a two-week period. Then observe live chicks the following week. Our chicks should hatch around October 15th and can be observed in the library through October 21st!
Read, Watch, Listen, Play, WIN!

Friends of the Library Book Sale

Book Nook (Behind the London Public Library)
Visit the Book Nook May-October on the first Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for great deals on books, DVDs, and more! Bring a bag from previous years to fill up with books and pay only $5! There are children's books, teen, fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, adult, crime, nonfiction, cookbooks, self-help, romance, and more. Help support your London Public Library by shopping locally for your books!
Paws for Reading with Emma
Tuesday, October 14th, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
London Public Library Reading Room
NEW TIME! Read to a real dog! Register your child for a 10 minute time slot in which they will read a story to certified therapy dog, Emma. Emma is a nonjudgmental listener who will encourage children to read and help struggling readers find confidence. 
*Have a book picked out and ready to read for your time slot.
Yarnies: Fiber Arts Club
Wednesday, October 15th, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
London Public Library Reading Room
Join us for an hour of crafting! If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, or any other fiber arts please join us for an hour of socializing and crafting! Whether you're a beginner or an expert, bring along your current project and work alongside others who enjoy crafting as much as you! This is not a class, but we do encourage anyone that comes to share their skills with beginners if they feel so inclined. Yarnies will meet in the Magazine/Newspaper room upstairs in the library, across from the front desk.
Trick-or-Treat Book Giveaway

Trick-or-Treat at the library for a new, free book! Stop by the library while you are out trick-or-treating. Pick out a brand new book for keeps! We have a selection of books for everyone - kids and adults.

Toddler Time will engage your child with stories, songs, and finger plays. For ages 0 - 3 years. Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute.

Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute. Preschoolers have the opportunity to practice the alphabet with a special letter activity after the regular story time is finished.

London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Children ages 4 - 6 can practice the alphabet and motor skills to prepare for kindergarten! We will practice letter sounds and writing letters using a variety of multisensory literacy activities. Children can also master the important fine motor skills and gross motor skills needed to start school. We will work on numbers and counting, scissors, sorting, patterns, and more!
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no Kindergarten Club on Thursday, October 30th.
TEENS/ADULTS
Fairy Graveyards - TEEN

Book Club

Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month when we meet to discuss the current book and pick up the next month’s title. We reserve copies that you can get at the library. This month we will be reading The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. (Ages 18+) 
Read Anything Book Club

The London Public Library has a new book club! Read a book that fits our monthly theme and come prepared to talk about it! Book suggestions will be provided here but you are not required to read a book from that list. All reading levels are welcome. This month’s theme is Famous People. (Ages 14+)
Teen Advisory Board Meeting
Wednesday, October 22nd, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Why should I join the TAB? You will have a hand in creating programs specifically for teens. You will be able to recommend materials for our collection. You will get community service hours for every TAB meeting that you attend. You will be able to put a leadership position on your college application. You will have the opportunity to make the library a better place for teens.
The Mothman Cometh
Tuesday, October 28th, 6:30PM - 7:30 PM
London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
James Willis joins us to discuss the entire timeline of the Mothman sightings in Pt.Pleasant, West Virginia, as well as the rumors that Mothman never really left us and continues to be spotted around the world, even today. Also included is a collection of theories about what this mysterious creature could be.
Fairy Graveyards - ADULT

Get one-on-one help for any of your devices!
Are you struggling to work the new iPad you got for Christmas? Maybe you want to set up a social media account but don't know where to start? Do you want to become more knowledgeable on how to work your email? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the London Public Library can help! We are now offering FREE Technology Help Sessions during the week by appointment only! Call or come in to schedule your help session! Each help session will provide a one-on-one 45-minute time block where you can ask questions and be shown how to use/do various tasks. Help session attendees must bring their own technology to learn on.
