CLOSED - Labor Day

London Public Library
The London Public Library will be closed all day on Monday, September 1st in observance of Labor Day. The library will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Adults get a coupon for a free small fries from McDonald's. Kids get a choice of either a coupon for a free kid's meal from Raising Cane's or a free hour of jump time at Get Air.
You will also be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card!
Already have a card? You can earn the same things just by stopping by the front desk to update the information on your account!

Friends of the Library Book Sale
Saturday, September 6th, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Book Nook (Behind the London Public Library)
Visit the Book Nook May-October on the first Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for great deals on books, DVDs, and more! Bring a bag from previous years to fill up with books and pay only $5! There are children's books, teen, fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, adult, crime, nonfiction, cookbooks, self-help, romance, and more. Help support your London Public Library by shopping locally for your books!
Paws for Reading with Emma

NEW TIME! Read to a real dog! Register your child for a 10 minute time slot in which they will read a story to certified therapy dog, Emma. Emma is a nonjudgmental listener who will encourage children to read and help struggling readers find confidence. 
*Have a book picked out and ready to read for your time slot.
Canine Comfort with Maggie

Yarnies: Fiber Arts Club

Join us for an hour of crafting! If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, or any other fiber arts please join us for an hour of socializing and crafting! Whether you're a beginner or an expert, bring along your current project and work alongside others who enjoy crafting as much as you! This is not a class, but we do encourage anyone that comes to share their skills with beginners if they feel so inclined. Yarnies will meet in the Magazine/Newspaper room upstairs in the library, across from the front desk.

Toddler Time will engage your child with stories, songs, and finger plays. For ages 0 - 3 years. Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute.

Preschool Story Time will delight your child with stories, songs, finger plays, and a weekly letter activity. For ages 3 - 6 years. Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute. Preschoolers have the opportunity to practice the alphabet with a special letter activity after the regular story time is finished.
Kindergarten Club
Thursday, September 25th, 6:30 PM - 7:15 PM
London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Children ages 4 - 6 can practice the alphabet and motor skills to prepare for kindergarten! We will practice letter sounds and writing letters using a variety of multisensory literacy activities. Children can also master the important fine motor skills and gross motor skills needed to start school. We will work on numbers and counting, scissors, sorting, patterns, and more!

Donation Drop Off: Homecoming Shop
Monday, August 25th through Friday, August 30th, During Library Hours
London Public Library
London Public Library is hosting a Pop-Up Homecoming Shop, and we’re accepting donations of gently used dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories. Drop off your items at the library and give them a second chance to shine! Donations can be dropped off anytime during library hours from August 25th - 30th. The pop-up shop will be held for teens on September 3rd, 5pm to 6pm.

London Public Library is hosting a Pop-Up Homecoming Shop. Teens can stop by and pick out a showstopping outfit for the dance! We'll have a selection of gently used dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories.
Book Club
Tuesday, September 9th, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month when we meet to discuss the current book and pick up the next month’s title. We reserve copies that you can get at the library. This month we will be reading Rabbit, Run by John Updike. Join us at 6:30pm for a Book Club Social. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share and enjoy some socialization! Book club will start at 7:00pm as normal. (Ages 18+) 
The Life of Audrey Hepburn

Read Anything Book Club

The London Public Library has a new book club! Read a book that fits our monthly theme and come prepared to talk about it! Book suggestions will be provided here but you are not required to read a book from that list. All reading levels are welcome. This month’s theme is Books, Books, Books! Choose any book about a library, bookstore, or a character who loves to read. (Ages 14+)
Teen Advisory Board Meeting

Why should I join the TAB? You will have a hand in creating programs specifically for teens. You will be able to recommend materials for our collection. You will get community service hours for every TAB meeting that you attend. You will be able to put a leadership position on your college application. You will have the opportunity to make the library a better place for teens.
Basic Vegetable Gardening

Are you struggling to work the new iPad you got for Christmas? Maybe you want to set up a social media account but don't know where to start? Do you want to become more knowledgeable on how to work your email? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the London Public Library can help! We are now offering FREE Technology Help Sessions during the week by appointment only! Call or come in to schedule your help session! Each help session will provide a one-on-one 45-minute time block where you can ask questions and be shown how to use/do various tasks. Help session attendees must bring their own technology to learn on.
