Back-to-School Ice Cream! 
 
Back to School Ice Cream treats will be given out at both the Ludington and Scottville Libraries on Tuesday, September 2. Come get your ice cream right after school to celebrate the first day!

Scottville Family Bingo!
Tuesday, September 2
 
Come join the fun at the Scottville Library the first Tuesday of every month from 6:00 to 7:00 pm for Family Bingo! We have great prizes, snacks, and we share in much laughter. Bring your family for a fun, free night out.
 
 
Scottville Library Part-Day Closure Notice
 
The Scottville Branch ONLY will be CLOSED for cleaning from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 3. The library will open for the rest of the day after 2:00 pm.

Trivia Night is on the first Wednesday of each month. Join us on September 3rd to test your knowledge with our master of trivia, Richie Kirwin. His wit and detailed questions make the evening fun and challenging. Bring a group of 3-5 or join a group in need.

  • Social Awareness Book Club - On Wednesday, September 10th, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, we will discuss the book “Side by Side: Parallel Histories of Israel-Palestine” edited by Sami Adwan, Dan Bar-On, Eyal Naveh, and the Peace Research Institute in the Middle East. Email Thomas Trahey at ttrahey@mcdlibrary.org for more information about the book club.
  • Scottville Adult Book Club - Our Scottville Adult Book Club book meets on Thursday, September 18th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in Scottville Library’s Community Room. The pick for this month is “The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane” by Lisa See. Call or stop in at the Scottville Library to obtain a copy of the pick for this month. We always welcome new members to join!

Adult Craft Classes are BACK!
 
On Wednesday, September 10 in Ludington and Tuesday, September 16 in Scottville, we will host a craft night at 6:00 pm. If you missed creating a design using permanent markers on a canvas pouch or mini tote bag in June, we are offering this colorful craft again. Hope to see you there!

September Harvest Swap
at the Ludington & Scottville Libraries
 
Join us for the Mason County Community Seed Library's Harvest Swaps on September 19th from 4:30 to 5:30 pm at the Scottville Library or September 20th from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the Ludington Library. Stop in to compare and share your gardening successes, get tips for the winter, and just to talk gardening! Swap produce if you wish. Too many tomatoes? Bring them in and swap them out with someone else who might have too many peppers!

This Is Bass Lake
Wednesday, September 24, 1:00 pm in Ludington
 
The Bass Lake History Committee's six members are connected in unique ways yet share a common heritage—two are sisters, two are married, and two are third cousins. Collectively, they represent more than 500 years of family history at west Michigan's Bass Lake. Three of those representatives, Wendy Wunzer Jonkers, Kyle Chapman, and Pam Chapman, will join us at Ludington Library on September 24 at 1:00 pm to share their backgrounds and stories from their collective published book: This is Bass Lake. 
 
Silent Reading Club
Second Thursdays
 
The Silent Reading Club meets the second Thursday of each month at State and Main, in Scottville, from 11:00 am to Noon. September 11 will be our next meeting. Bring a book and enjoy a cool, comfortable place to allow time for yourself to read what you'd like. Those attending the book club will receive 10% off a drink choice or treat.t.

Cultural Corner Street Party
Friday, Sept. 26, 2025
 
Get ready to celebrate creativity, community, and culture in the heart of downtown Ludington! On Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, four of Ludington’s leading nonprofit organizations will once again join forces to host the 2nd annual Cultural Corner Street Party: @ the Crossroads of Creativity.
 
This FREE family-friendly event brings together the Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA), Mason County District Library, Mason County Historical Society’s Research Center, and Sandcastles Children’s Museum for an evening of hands-on activities, live entertainment, and open doors to explore everything our cultural community has to offer.
 
Inside, each participating organization will open its doors with FREE admission, giving visitors a chance to explore exhibits, galleries, and hands-on experiences. Visitors can also pick up a Cultural Corner Passport—those who collect stamps from all four organizations can redeem their passport for FREE House of Flavors ice cream along Harrison Street.

Preschool Story Time
10 am on Wednesdays in Ludington
10 am on Fridays in Scottville
 
Story time is a fundamental library program, and meets twice a week - Wednesdays at 10:00 am in Ludington with Ms. Emily and Fridays at 10:00 am in Scottville with Ms. Lisa. Come with your younger children for rhymes, counting, songs, music, dancing, stories, and crafts. We practice fine and gross motor skills, literacy, and more every week! 
 
Join us for STEM-based Story time on the first week of each month!

Monday Mornings =
123 Rhyme With Me!
10:00 am at the Ludington Library
 
123 Rhyme with Me returns for the school year! Mondays at 10:00 a.m. Ms. Emily leads our 0-3 year old patrons with a caregiver in rhymes, songs, and early literacy skills. Join us to meet up with other parents and children!
Creative Kids

Scottville Library's Creative Kids meet on Mondays and Wednesdays 4:00 to 5:30 pm.

Learn to use TinkerCAD to make 3D models that can be printed.

Animation Club
Third Friday, 3:30 - 5:00 pm
Using different techniques, learn how to animate. Starts easier and gets more difficult. Begins without using technology.

Trading Card Game Night

Learn to play Magic the Gathering and Pokémon Trading Card Gamer.
