SOMETHING SPECIAL IN OCTOBER

Step Into the Twilight Zone October 8

Everything I Need to Know I Learned in The Twilight Zone, a one-act play performed by husband and wife team of Mark Dawidziak and Sara Showman of The Largely Literary Theater Company, will be presented in the auditorium of Rodman Public Library on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 6:30 pm.

The two-person show was written by Showman and is based on the book by Dawidziak that was published in 2017. The lighthearted tribute to Rod Serling's classic 1959-64 anthology series features fifty life lessons drawn from classic Twilight Zone episodes and featured a forward by Serling’s daughter, Anne Serling. Can you live your life by what The Twilight Zone has to teach you? Yes. The proof is in the life lessons, ground rules, inspirational thoughts, cautionary fables and stirring reminders found in Serling’s timeless fantasy series.

This one-act play recalls memorable moments from these enduring parables, exploring how each lesson was supported by the morality tales told by Serling and his writers from this wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. The performance will be followed by question-and-answer session and a book signing.

Registration is required.

LOCAL HISTORY AT RPL

Weber to Present Fourth
'Only Murders in Alliance' Program

Jack Weber, community relations manager at Rodman Public Library, will deliver the latest installment of “Only Murders in Alliance” just in time for Halloween, twice on Wednesday, October 29 at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Registration is required to attend either session.

Unlike the past three “Only Murders in Alliance” programs that were unraveled complicated plots with lots of twists and turns, the latest version will include several shorter and more concise tales ripped from the headlines of The Alliance Review dating back as far as nearly 150 years, including one from the 1890s.

Others include stories Weber uncovered while doing research when he was working as a local journalist or as a member of the board of the Alliance Historical Society, which is sponsoring the program in partnership with the Alliance Area Preservation Society and the Castle Crusaders as well as Rodman Public Library.

2025 FOGLE AUTHOR SERIES

Author Katrina Kittle to Discuss Her Work
at Rodman Library on September 15

Sarah Gormley spent most of her life trying to outrun the persistent self-loathing that plagued her from childhood, convinced that self-worth was something she had to earn by doing rather than being.
After earning a degree from DePauw University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Gormley directed marketing efforts for global brands, including IMAX, Martha Stewart, Girl Scouts of the USA, and Adobe.

When she returned to Salt Creek Farm at age 45 after a successful career in corporate America, she had no idea that detaching from the success she believed defined her, untangling the complicated relationship with her mother, and continuing the hard work of therapy would lead to a wildly transformed life.

Now an art gallery owner, Gormley wrote about her life journey in her first book, The Order of Things: A Memoir About Chasing Joy and will talk about that memoir when she appears at Rodman Public Library as part of the Fogle Author Series on Monday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m.
