Can You Solve the Monster Mystery? Teens, ages 12–18, are invited to step into a haunted mansion full of famous monsters for an afternoon of mystery, costumes, and creepy fun this Halloween season. On Thursday, October 30 from 3 to 5:30 p.m., participants will take on the role of a classic movie monster at a spooky party hosted by a world-famous inventor. But when something goes wrong, it’s up to you and your fellow creatures to crack the case and solve the monster mystery Teens must sign up at the Information Desk at the Main Library to choose their character (spots are limited). Costumes are encouraged on the day of the event. Refreshments will be served, and there will be prizes for the best sleuths and best costumes/acting. Don’t miss this monstrously good time!

Teen Crafting Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to the Main Library to take part in a Teen Craft program each month. At 4 p.m. on October 14, participants will create a fabric pumpkin. All materials and supplies are provided for free during the new monthly program, thanks to Friends of Rodman Library, but space is limited and registration is required to attend each session. - McKinley Museum – Admits 2 adults and 2 children
- Akron Art Museum – Admits 2 adults and unlimited children under 18 (same household)
- Akron Children's Museum – Admits a family of four
Passes are available to adult cardholders in good standing. You can check out one pass at a time, and each pass can be borrowed once every six months. Please note, passes are not valid for special events. Reservations are required—call 330- 821-2665 (option 4) to check availability. Passes must be picked up and returned in person at the Main Library. Get out and explore your community — on us.

Teen Book Club Meets October 15 Rodman Public Library invites teens, ages 12 to 18, to join the Teen Book Club, which meets every third Wednesday of the month at 4:15 p.m. at the Main Library. The October session will be held October 15 when the selection will be Registration is required to attend the book discussion.

Get a New Look for Halloween The Second Chance Costume Closet will be open in the RPL Auditorium on Saturday, October 4. Starting at 10 a.m., patrons will be able to come and select a pre-loved look from our selection of donated costumes, which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each person must be in attendance to claim a costume. The closet will remain open until 3:30 p.m., or until all costumes have been handed out.

Tabletop Gaming Tabletop Gaming, a popular all-ages program returns to the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7. Each month, a new game will be featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection will also be available and visitors are always welcome to bring their own games. The free monthly event is held on the first Tuesday of each month. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Rodman Chess Club The popular Rodman Chess Club will be held inside the Rodman Auditorium on from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on October 15. Although it is called a club, the program has no formal membership and is open to all interested in the ancient game of strategy. Players of all ages and levels are welcome to come and go throughout the evening. Several boards are set up in the auditorium and players mingle to find opponents. Chess Club is held on the third Wednesday of each month.

Nerf Night Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to attend the September Nerf Night from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6. Teens should start to assemble in the Main Library auditorium at 5:15 p.m. for the after-hours event. Participants may bring in their own Nerf weapons or use some provided by the library. The library will also provide Nerf darts. Space is limited and registration is required.
