SOMETHING SPECIAL IN AUGUST
Youth, 10-18 Invited to Journal Jamboree August 5
 
Area youth, ages 10-18, are invited to spend an afternoon learning about different types of journaling methods at Rodman Public Library from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5.
 
No experience in journaling is necessary. Small journals will be available for those that need one. Participants who already journal are welcome to bring something they’ve already started to work on as well. A variety of tool, and materials will be available to use in the journals, including paper, stickers, washi tape, pencils, paint, crayons, etc.
 
The program is supported by Friends of Rodman Library and all supplies will be provided free of charge.
 
No registration is necessary.
 
AT THE BRANCH
Pokemon Trading and Playing Day Planned at RPL Branch
 
Teens, ages 12 to 17, are invited to the RPL Branch from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 18, for trading and playing the most popular card game in America right now -- Pokémon. Bring your cards and battle it out with your fellow Pokémon fans. If you don't feel like playing, you can come to trade with others. Not sure how the game is played? We can help with that too.

It’s Used Book Sale Time!
 
Held in conjunction with the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival, the annual Friends of Rodman Public Library Used Book Sale – one of the largest in the area -- will run from Saturday, August 2 through Wednesday, August 6.
 
 
CALLING ALL TEEN READERS
 
 Teen Book Club
Meets August 20 
 
Rodman Public Library invites teens,
ages 12 to 18, to join the Teen Book Club, which meets every third Wednesday of the month at 4:15 p.m. at the Main Library.

MORE FUN AND GAMES
Video Gaming Day
 
Area youth, ages 10-18 are invited to Rodman Public Library to play their favorite video games on a selected Thursday each month.
 
In May, a session is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. on August 14 in the Main Auditorium.
 
During Video Gaming Days 10-18, youth have the opportunity to play games on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Playstation 4 & 5, a Meta Quest 3, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo WiiU. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “T” for Teen level will be offered.
 
No registration is required for these free gaming events.

SOMETHING ELSE YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN
FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY
Tabletop Gaming
 
Tabletop Gaming, a popular all-ages program returns to the Main Library at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5.
 
Each month, a new game will be featured so that patrons can learn a new game. Of course, other games available in the library’s collection will also be available and visitors are always welcome to bring their own games.
 
The free monthly event is held on the first Tuesday of each month. 
 
The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite card and board games and make new friends.
 
Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend the monthly program.
 
Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Rodman Chess Club 
 
The popular Rodman Chess Club will be held inside the Rodman Auditorium on from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on August 20. Although it is called a club, the program has no formal membership and is open to all interested in the ancient game of strategy. Players of all ages and levels are welcome to come and go throughout the evening. Several boards are set up in the auditorium and players mingle to find opponents. Chess Club is held on the third Wednesday of each month.

Bookmobile Sets
Summer Schedule

The RPL Bookmobile will make 12 weekly public stops throughout the greater Alliance area during the summer. Printed schedule brochures are available at both the Main and Branch libraries and can be viewed as a PDF and a map online.
