Summer Reading is Underway Adventure begins at your library this summer. Rodman Public Library invites all of its patrons - young, mature, and anyone in between – to take part in the 2024 Summer Reading Program. The program, which will run from Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, July 27, will feature three divisions, including one for children (up to 12 years old). Patrons can sign up in person at the Main Library, the Branch Library, or on the Bookmobile. Patrons may also sign up online at rodmanlibrary.beanstack.org, or through the Beanstack app, which they can download on a mobile device. Patrons can register to take part in the 2024 Summer Reading Program, which has a theme of “Adventure Begins at Your Library” starting Tuesday, May 28.

Main Library Kickoff Event The Main Library will hold a kick-off event from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5 that will feature a petting zoo, face painting, games and more.

Branch Library Kickoff Event The Branch will hold a kick-off event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 7 that will include a scavenger hunt, face painting, games, and more.

Mark National Holiday by Replicating Art Piece Children, ages 8-12, are invited to mark the Juneteenth holiday with a special craft day at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19. The project will include the children replicating a painting displayed by the National Museum of African American History & Culture of a fleur-de-lis made of red beans and rice. The original was created in 2010 by Myesha Francis. Children's Assistant Retires After 13 Years at RPL Marcie Fitzelle, a children's assistant known to hundreds of kids through her storytime sessions over the past decade, has retired after 13 years of service at Rodman Public Library. Marcie's last day was Thursday, May 30.

There's Always Something To Do at Your Library There's always something going on for kids at Rodman Public Library, and that couldn't be more true than in June and July while the Summer Reading Program is happening.

Tabletop Gaming The popular all-ages monthly program will be held Wednesday, June 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library. A new game is featured each month, but other games available in the library’s collection are also available for visitors to play and those attending are always welcome to bring their own games. The aim of the family program is to give area residents an opportunity to gather with others to play their favorite board games and make new friends. Light snacks will be offered and no registration is required to attend. Although the program is open to players of all ages, children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult. Kids Book Club Meets June 12 Rodman Public Library invites children, ages 8-12, to join the Kids Book Club in June when sessions will be held June 12 at both 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo is the selected title. Registration is required for each session, which includes a brief discussion of the book, a fun activity and a snack.

Branch Take and Make During June, children can stop by the Rodman Branch Library to pick up a submarine craft that actually floats to take home and make. All supplies for the craft are included as well as step-by-step instructions, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Supplies are limited and will be given out at a first come, first served basis.
