Tis the season for standardized testing, and it's always good to be prepared. Peterson's is one of our newest online resources and provides study guides and practice tests for a wide variety of testing, including SATs, AP courses, U.S. citizenship, and vocational exams.
 
April is National Poetry  Month!
Launched by the Academy of American Poets in April 1996, National Poetry Month is a special occasion that celebrates poets’ integral role in our culture and that poetry matters. Ask a librarian for recommendations or visit section 811 in our non-fiction shelves to browse American poetry new and old! 
Featured Museum Pass: American Precision Museum
The American Precision Museum is located in the Robbins & Lawrence Armory—a National Historic Landmark—in Windsor, Vermont. Learn about the history of machine manufacturing and human ingenuity in New England. Learn more on their website.

Emily Walton Author Visit
Homesick: Race & Exclusion in Rural New England

Join the library and the Monadnock DEIB Coalition for this author visit and discussion with sociologist Emily Walton. Her book explores how race shapes belonging in communities that view themselves as welcoming, uncovering the subtle dynamics that can leave residents of color
feeling invisible.

Emily Walton is Associate Professor of Sociology at Dartmouth College. Her research is grounded in the Upper Valley. 
The Toadstool Bookshop will be onsite offering copies of Homesick for purchase. 
 
Hamilton: An American Musical Film Screening and Sing-along

The Keene Public Library and The Historical Society of Cheshire County are teaming up to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation.  Join us for our library’s first theatrical screening of the original cast production of Hamilton: An American Musical (2020).
During this three-hour sing-along event, we will provide participants with the original lyrics to this timeless production and have microphones set up for any revolutionary singers brave enough to “rise up” and sing in front of the audience. Light snacks will be available so we can all “raise a glass to freedom.”
Registration is not required but highly encouraged.

Making Magic with Ken Burns: Pianist Jacqueline Schwab in Concert

Pianist Jacqueline Schwab, heard on Ken Burn's new The American Revolution and featured on over a dozen of his films, will perform pieces from her soundtrack performances as well as her interpretation of the well-loved Ashokan Farewell and other vintage American standards such as Be Thou My Vision, and Tenting on the Old Campground.
