What's Happening at the Library?
December 2025
The Director's Desk
We plunge into the dark part of the year, when we can sit with a blanket on our lap and read, maybe with a cat or dog for company. Don't forget the pleasures of reading short stories.  If you're in-between books, feeling distracted, or don't know what to read next, give short stories a try. Read from the Best American series, which includes realistic, mystery, and sci-fi/fantasy. Try the Black Lizard series of classic mysteries, or the Jeff and Ann Vandermeer-edited series of classic weird/fantasy stories. Try short stories in a foreign language. Or pick any of our books on short stories. During the Holiday season, let me recommend "The Usual Santas," an entirely original Santa caper story found in Mick Herron's collection of stories, "Dolphin Junction." You can also listen to this story online, read by Levar Burton.
See you at the Library!
