Drop Everything and Read!
April 11 10 AM - 4 PM
 
Our meeting room will transform into a cozy reading retreat where families can drop in anytime between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to read together. Stay for 10 minutes or settle in for longer.
 
Throughout the day we’ll feature: 
  • Alternating picture book and first chapter read-alouds
  • An audiobook listening and coloring station
  • A “Read to a Buddy” nook
  • Snacks and reading giveaways
  • A community book recommendation display

SUMMER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 
 
Do you want to build leadership skills and give back to our community? Join our Summer Leadership Program, a unique opportunity for Middle and High School students! Learn how a public library serves the community, practice leadership skills, and interact with young people in our community as part of the Summer Reading Program. Grow as a leader while making a positive impact!
 
Open to students entering grades 7-12 in Fall of 2026.
 
Registration opens April 13.

Join us each month for an exciting journey through the worlds of your favorite book series. From magical clans to secret powers, each session will spotlight a different fantasy series full of adventure, mystery, and magic. Come ready to dive into fun activities inspired by each book’s universe.
 
We recommend reading the first book in the series before each meeting.

Discover the history of the Blues with acclaimed musician Leonardo Gianola. Beginning with some of the first recorded Blues songs, Leonardo illustrates the evolution of this great musical form through to the late 1930s using a combination of narrative and music.

Spring Craft Swap
 
April 13-18 Drop off your unused or gently used craft items and get your ticket at the front desk.
 
April 21 The swap is open to ticket holders from 9am - 8pm
 
April 22-25 Non-ticket-holders can shop.
 
EVERYTHING IS FREE
There will initially be a two bag take-home limit. Bags will be provided by the library.

The Library is celebrating Earth Day by hosting an electronic recycling day. Electro-Cycle will be in our parking lot accepting your old electronics, including computers, cell phones, scanners, and more. Small items should be in a box. A full list of items accepted and not accepted is available online or at the Library.

Learn Crochet! Free, One-on-One Appointments Available Upon Request All Month Long

Discover the joy of crochet with personalized, hands-on instruction! Whether you’re picking up a crochet hook for the very first time or looking to build confidence, we’ll tailor an hour-long, one-on-one lesson just for you. We’ll teach you the basics, giving you the skills to begin a simple project, like a scarf.
 
All supplies will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own yarn if you prefer. Email crochet@ssldl.info or ask at the Reference Desk to request an appointment!
 
To ensure everyone has a chance to request an appointment, patrons are limited to one, hour-long appointment per month.
