All CMRLS Libraries will be closed April 24, 2026, for Team Development. Regular library hours will resume on Saturday, April 25, for branches with regular Saturday hours.

Monday, April 10: Right to Read Day, a day for readers, advocates, and library lovers to take action to protect, defend, and celebrate the right to read. 
 
Tuesday, April 21: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
 
Wednesday, April 22: National Library Outreach Day, a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons needs where they are.
 
Thursday, April 23: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries

April 19-25 is National Library Week!
This year's theme is "Find Your Joy" and features Honorary Chair Mychal Threets, new host of children's program "Reading Rainbow!" 
 
National Library Week is a time to celebrate our nation's libraries, library workers' contributions, and promote library use and support.
We are super excited and are celebrating all month long with a CMRLS Library Crawl, a fun month-long event where participants visit different libraries and collect stamps in a passport while exploring programs, resources, and communities!

Becky Tong is a dedicated library assistant with a passion for connecting people to knowledge. Becky enjoys helping patrons discover new books, navigate digital resources, and explore lifelong learning opportunities. Known for patience, organization, and a welcoming spirit, Becky is committed to creating an inclusive and engaging library environment for visitors of all ages.
Pearl Public School Read Across America Visits with Ms. Autumn and Ms. Mary
Ms. Autumn and Ms. Mary had so much fun reading at Northside and ECEC for Read Across America week!
Pearl Public Schools Art Reception
Funded by the Friends of the Pearl Public Library 
 
The library was proud to host our annual Art Reception in partnership with the Pearl Public School District, welcoming community members, students, and families for an evening dedicated to creativity and achievement.
Attendees had the opportunity to gather and connect over light refreshments, generously provided by the Friends of the Pearl Library, whose continued support helps make events like this possible.
 
This year marked another successful collaboration between the library and the school district, celebrating the arts and strengthening community connections. We thank everyone who attended and contributed to making the evening memorable.

Lapsit Story Time
(0-2 Years)
Every Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
Join us for Baby Lapsit Story Time, a special program designed for our youngest patrons (0–2 years old) and their caregivers. This cozy, interactive session features rhymes, songs, simple stories, and movement to support early language development and bonding time.
 
Preschool Story Time
(3-5 Years)
Every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
Join us for a fun and interactive Preschool Story Time designed especially for children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers! Each week, we’ll explore exciting themes through stories, songs, fingerplays, and movement that spark imagination and build early literacy skills.
Peanuts Story Time
(Kindergarten- 5th Grade) 
Every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
Calling all curious kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade! Join us for a special Story Time designed just for school-aged readers. Each session features exciting read-alouds, fun group activities, and hands-on creativity — from crafts to games and more!
Sensory Story Time 
This is a monthly story time for all ages and abilities. Enjoy stories, sensory activities, and a space to be yourself, at your own pace.

Join us for the Writers In Progress group, a writers' group where we can share our work and ideas. Share whatever you're comfortable with. This is a creative space, so no putting other writers down! Ages 13+.
Teen Game Night:
Improv Games 
Teens are invited to join us at the library for an evening of high-energy fun at Teen Improv Game Night! This interactive program is all about quick thinking, creativity, and plenty of laughs.
Participants will play a variety of improv-style games that challenge you to think on your feet, work as a team, and step outside your comfort zone—no acting experience required. Whether you love being in the spotlight or just want to try something new, this is a welcoming space to relax, be silly, and have fun with friends.
Come ready to laugh, create, and connect. Bring a friend or make new ones—either way, you won’t want to miss it!
Teen Craft Scene: 
Make a Blooming Poem
Get creative and watch your ideas bloom! Teens are invited to join us for a fun craft session making blooming poems.
 
Haiku Fun for Teens and Tweens
Join us as we celebrate National Poetry Month with creativity and imagination! Teens and tweens will learn the simple 5-7-5 structure of a haiku and create their own poems inspired by the world around them. This fun, relaxed program is perfect for young writers ready to play with words and express big ideas in just a few lines.

Join us for a free, all-levels yoga class at the Pearl Public Library! Whether you're a beginner or an experienced yogi, this session is designed to help you stretch, breathe, and unwind in a supportive environment.

Slam Poetry
Join us for our Slam Poetry program where patrons share their pieces open-mic style: part poetry, part storytelling, part performance, all Slam!

Starting your hair-care journey? Want to master the craft? Just taking a peek? No worries! Whatever your skill or texture, we’ve got advice on handling hair! Our first meeting will be April 13 at 5:30 p.m.

Quick Drawing Lessons
Want to boost your creativity or learn to draw, but don’t know where to start? Join us for quick, beginner-friendly drawing lessons at the library! Each session focuses on simple techniques and fun prompts to help you build confidence and sharpen your skills—no experience needed.
Blackout Poetry 
Create poetry in a whole new way! Participants will transform book pages into original works of art by highlighting selected words and blacking out the rest of the text. No experience needed. Supplies provided.

Spring Book Sale
The Friends of the Pearl Public Library invite you to their upcoming Book Sale, a community fundraiser that supports library programs, services, and special initiatives.
Browse a wide selection of gently used books, including fiction, nonfiction, children’s titles, and more—all at affordable prices.
 
BINGO for Books 
Join us at the Pearl library for Bingo for Books, a lively monthly program where readers of all ages come together for a fun game night—with a literary twist.
Participants will play rounds of Bingo for the chance to win free books as prizes, making it a great way to build their personal library while making friends. 
 
Chess Group
Want to learn how to play chess? Know how to play, but need a new opponent? We cover the rules of the game at the beginning of every meeting for new players, tactics, and a little bit of opening strategy.
Boards and pieces are provided, but feel free to bring your own!
Disability Support Group
Join our Disability Support Group to connect with others and enjoy fun group activities together. All ages are welcome, and allergy-conscious refreshments will be served.
 
Easter Egg Hunt
Join us for an easter egg hunt inside the Pearl Public Library after you finish your first egg hunt outdoors at the Mayor's Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Restrooms and water fountains open to the public during both egg hunts!
