 All CMRLS Libraries and the Administrative Office will be closed Monday, October 12 in observance of the federal holiday. Regular library hours will resume Tuesday, October 13. Digital media and resources can be found 24/7 on our website.  National Friends of the Library Week is October 18-24, 2026! Libraries are so thankful for Friends. Our Friends groups make equipment, books, holiday decorating, refreshments, programs, and more possible in all of the CMRLS Libraries. If you are interested in working with a group to support your Library and better your community, a Friends to Your Library is what you want to be! Annual membership begins as low as $2 for students. Ask the staff at your library for information and become a Friend to your Library. Are you looking for a safe place to celebrate Halloween or Harvest Time with your little ones? Pearl Friends of the Library Scholarship Here is how you can win a $1,000 Scholarship to become a librarian: - Attend school or live in Pearl, MS
- Major in a librarianship-related field
- Complete a volunteer application and volunteer for 8 hours minimum at the Pearl Public Library
- High School Senior graduating in May 2027
- Must complete an essay:
Essay Prompt: What does the library mean to you? What are your plans to pursue librarianship? - No word limit
- Any standardized format (MLA, APA, etc.)
- Any usage of AI will result in disqualification. Essays will be evaluated with an AI detection software.

What is NEA Big Read?
The NEA Big Read is a national reading program by the National Endowment for the Arts, run in partnership with Arts Midwest, that funds community-wide reading events built around a selected book. The book chosen for our community is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
