Monday, April 8: State of America's Libraries Report released, including Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2018. Tuesday, April 9: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers. #nlwd19 Wednesday, April 10: National Bookmobile Day, a day to recognize the contributions of our nation's bookmobiles and the dedicated professionals who make high-quality bookmobile outreach possible in their communities. #BookmobileDay2019

Central Comic Con - Saturday, April 13, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

It's the first annual Central Comic Con, hosted at Pearl Public Library, and you're invited to wear your best costume and enjoy all the fun! Local artists, authors, and vendors will be on site, as well as all of your Rankin County libraries hosting some fun events, including: video game tournaments, board game tournaments, a video game trailer, mini golf, crafts for kids, and drawing/art workshops. Get here early to enjoy the fun all day long! Food and beverages will be for sale from 11:30am to 2:00pm. All proceeds will benefit Rankin County Friends of the Library. Don't miss the first ever Central Comic Con, hosted by your CMRLS libraries!

Pearl Pee Wees - Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. Bring baby and join us for a lap sit story time with rhymes, songs, playtime, and picture books. Birth to 24 months. Toddler Time - Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. This story time is designed for toddlers, but younger babies are always welcome. We have lots of movement for our wiggly friends, as they enjoy stories, rhymes, activities, and songs! Preschool Story Time - Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Come enjoy a story, make a craft, and shake your sillies out! Peanuts After School - Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. Join us in reading stories and making crafts after school! Snacks will be served. This group is for K-6th grade. Reading with my Peeps! Get "hippity hoppiting" over to the library this Easter season and enter our "Reading with my Peeps" contest! Stop by our display either in the Children's or Young Adult section and enter to win one of two Bunny Peep pillows. We are gearing up for our Central Comic Con Event by making our own DIY button-pins. Easter Scavenger Hunt Monday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m. The Easter Bunny is loose in the library! Join us on a Teen (hey, big kids can play too!) Easter Egg Hunt. Win prizes, candy, and eternal glory all while trying to catch that sneaky Easter Bunny. Celebrate Earth Day Monday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m. Celebrate Earth Day by creating wildflower seed bombs and decorating your own flower pot. Spread the love of Mother Earth where ever you may go with these fun, water-activated seed bombs- full of gorgeous wildflowers! See you there, flower child!

Bookworm's Egg Hunt This egg hunt is designed just for adults! Come to the Pearl Public Library during the entire month of April, and see if you can find an Easter Egg hidden within our shelves! Find an egg, and bring it to the Reference Desk to earn a sweet treat! Chapter 1 Book Club Tuesday, April 9 at 6:00 p.m. This month's title will be The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. The Chapter 1 Book Club meets every second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Pearl Library. Come and join the fun discussion! Morning Book Club Wednesday, April 10 and 24 at 10:00 a.m. Do you love reading? The Pearl Morning Book Club is the place for you! We meet every other Wednesday. The book for the 10th is Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant by Anne Tyler. We will vote on the next few meeting choices as well. Newcomers always welcome and books are chosen at the meetings. Third Thursday Flicks Thursday, April 18 at 6:00 p.m. Relax and enjoy the big screen, popcorn, and drinks at our FREE movie night for adults at the Pearl Public Library. We will be watching Easter Parade, not rated, MGM Studios, 107 min. Computer Tutorial Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Stop by the Reference Desk and receive FREE basic computer instruction! Participants must have (or be ready to sign up for) a library card. Jackson Astronomical Association Thursday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. Anyone interested in astronomy and space science is welcome to attend meetings, held every first Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Pearl Library. Rubber Stamp and Craft Paper Company Saturday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m. Join us as we make crafts using the latest rubber stamp and craft paper ideas, such as your own greeting cards! This group meets every second Saturday at 10:30. Central MS Polymer Clay Guild Saturday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. Learn how to make your own jewelry and decorative knick-knacks!
