Monday, April 8: State of America's Libraries Report released, including Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2018. Tuesday, April 9: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers. #nlwd19 Wednesday, April 10: National Bookmobile Day, a day to recognize the contributions of our nation's bookmobiles and the dedicated professionals who make high-quality bookmobile outreach possible in their communities. #BookmobileDay2019

Simpson County Afternoon with Authors Wednesday, April 10, 2:00 pm Mendenhall Community Center Join us as we celebrate National Library Week with Simpson County Afternoon with MS Authors. We will be hosting a wide variety of authors (25 different authors!), including a few children's book authors! Come by and meet the authors, grab a book and get it autographed!

Community Connections: Human Trafficking Awareness Monday, April 22, 5:30 pm Community Center Join us for our April session of Community Connections, brought to you by the Friends of the Mendenhall Library. Our program is designed to raise public awareness about the problem of human trafficking in our county, bring awareness to at-risk youth and provide resources and support for parents about online predators.

Saturday, April 13, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.It's the first annual Central Comic Con, hosted at Pearl Public Library, and you're invited to wear your best costume and enjoy all the fun! Local artists, authors, and vendors will be on site, as well as all of your Rankin County libraries hosting some fun events, including: video game tournaments, board game tournaments, a video game trailer, mini golf, crafts for kids, and drawing/art workshops. Get here early to enjoy the fun all day long! Food and beverages will be for sale from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Don't miss the first ever Central Comic Con, hosted by your CMRLS libraries! All proceeds from sales go the Rankin County Friends of the Libraries’ groups.
