from the North Chatham Library:
Nature Unfolding – Emily Brooks & Matt Holbein
Sunday, July 19th at 3 pm
Illustrator Emily Brooks and designer Matt Holbein create interactive folding books to explore the beauty and ever-changing world of nature around us. The books, in themselves, are inventive works of art – incorporating elements of art, geometry, engineering, and environmentalism. During their online zoom session, Emily and Matt will reveal the collaborative creative process they use to research, plan, and construct a book. As part of the program, they will provide printable DIY templates of some simple elements of their books, so that people watching the presentation can do a corresponding activity at home. Take a StoryWalk! with the Columbia Land Conservancy:
StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children's book are attached to wooden stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story
.
StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 12 countries including Germany, Canada, England, Bermuda, Russia, Malaysia, Pakistan and South Korea!

The Columbia Land Conservancy has teamed up with partners throughout the county, including the Columbia County Library Association, the Philmont Library, PS21, and the Roe Jan Library, to install StoryWalks on several public properties.
StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and has developed with the help of Rachel Senechal, Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
