What’s It ART About? with Artist Robert Stanley
Sunday, December 10, 2:00 pm
Library Meeting Room
Did you ever wonder why you liked a painting or reproduction hanging on your wall so much? Or, would you have liked to talk to somebody about a supposed piece of art, wondering, “Why in the world is THIS considered art?” Bring in any piece of art or reproduction you would like to talk about. After a short introduction to the visual language of art, Robert Stanley will lead a discussion. He is an artist himself, and taught art appreciation for many years. He knows that all feelings and views are to be accepted, that they make good starting places for conversation. We will talk about art, what is really there besides the story: color, shapes, light and dark. Bring something you would like to talk about, or observe and contribute to the discussion of others’ examples.
