Jaimy Gordon

Writing Out Loud, the library’s premiere author series, returns in September with Jaimy Gordon, author of the National Book Award winner Lord of Misrule.
Jaimy was born in Baltimore. She graduated from Antioch College, received an MA in English from Brown University, and earned a Doctor of Arts in Creative Writing, also from Brown. She currently lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she previously taught in the MFA and PhD program of Western Michigan University. Her fourth novel, Lord of Misrule, published by McPherson & Co., won the 2010 National Book Award for Fiction. Her literary works have been recognized and highlighted at Michigan State University in their Michigan Writers Series. She is also the author of the underground fantasy classic Shamp of the City-Solo.
The Friends of the Library will host a reception and book signing following the program. All programs are free and open to the public.

Clare O'Donohue

Best-selling mystery and suspense author Clare O’Donohue was born in Chicago. She loved to read. She received a degree in International Studies with a minor in Economics, then worked as a newspaper reporter on a small weekly. Later she worked in television as a field producer on documentary and true crime shows. Her passion for writing led to documentaries, speeches, articles, and most amazingly of all – books. In 2008 she published her first novel, The Lover’s Knot. Her 8th novel, Beyond the Pale, is the first in the World of Spies Mystery series.

Graham Hoppe

Graham Hoppe writes about culture and history with a focus on food, music, and tourism. He is a graduate of the folklore program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at UNC he studied topics such as Cracker Barrel, firehouse dinners, and parking garages. His first book, Gone Dollywood, is available now from Ohio University Press. Raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Graham currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Maurice Broaddus

Maurice Broaddus was originally born in London, England, but has lived in Indianapolis, Indiana for most of his life. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Purdue University in Biology (with an undeclared major in English) and spends the bulk of his time doing community development work.
A community organizer and teacher, his work has appeared in magazines like Lightspeed Magazine, Weird Tales, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Asimov’s, Cemetery Dance, Uncanny Magazine, with some of his stories having been collected in The Voices of Martyrs. His books include the urban fantasy trilogy, The Knights of Breton Court. And the (upcoming) middle grade detective novel, The Usual Suspects. His latest novella is Buffalo Soldier. As an editor, he’s worked on Dark Faith, Dark Faith: Invocations, Streets of Shadows, People of Colo(u)r Destroy Horror, and Apex Magazine. Learn more at MauriceBroaddus.com.
