Read it for: Olive's snarky narration, a steamy enemies-to-lovers plot, and a pile-up of romantic complications on the way to happily-ever-after.
Author alert: Christina Lauren, the pen name of two best friends, writes much-loved romantic comedies including Dating You / Hating You, Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating, and My Favorite Half-Night Stand.

| A Lady's Code of Misconduct by Meredith DuranWhat happens: After waking up from a coma, politician Crispin Burke seeks to learn why he was attacked and left for dead; he must also renew his acquaintance with his wife Jane, whom he doesn't remember.

A Gift for Guile
by Alissa Johnson
Victorian Romance. Esther Bales always believed that she was destined for a life of crime. That is, until she discovered that the man who raised her -- one of London's most notorious criminal overlords -- was not her biological father. However, Esther's quest to discover the truth about her origins is complicated by an unexpected reunion with former Scotland Yard detective (and current private investigator) Sir Samuel Brass, who helped arrest her adoptive father. Samuel's interest in Esther has always been more personal than professional, which is why he insists on accompanying her on her search. A Gift for Guile is the 2nd book in the Thief-Takers series, after A Talent for Trickery.

My Beautiful Enemy
by Sherry Thomas
Victorian Romance. The illegitimate daughter of an English adventurer and a Chinese courtesan, Bai Ying-ying -- a.k.a. Catherine Blade -- grew up unwanted and unloved in Chinese Turkestan; to survive she became a martial arts expert and a spy. During an undercover mission that takes her into London society, she encounters her former lover, Leighton Atwood. Eight years ago, she left him to die in the Takla Makan Desert after he betrayed her. Not only is he alive and well, he's just become engaged to another woman. This discovery complicates matters, to say the least. Readers interested in the couple's (rather tumultuous) history should check out The Hidden Blade, a full-length prequel to this novel.
