Forged in Desire
by Brenda Jackson
Multicultural Romantic Suspense. Jury duty isn't usually this exciting: soon after Margo Connelly and her fellow jurors deliver a guilty verdict, people involved in the trial start dying. Once the judge, the court clerk, and the bailiff are gunned down in cold blood outside the courthouse, it becomes clear that Margo needs protection, too. Tasked with protecting Margo from a crime boss' hired killer, bodyguard Lamar "Striker" Jennings must stay by her side, day and night. Naturally, Margo and Lamar get to know each other very, very well. But Lamar has reservations about a relationship: not only is Margo his mentor's niece, but Lamar fears that his law-breaking past may change her mind about him. Forged in Desire is the 1st book in the Protectors series.

How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days by Kerrelyn SparksFantasy Romance. Raised in a convent on the Isle of Moon, Luciana grows up believing that she's an orphan. Then her father, the Duke of Vindalyn, arrives and informs her that she must impersonate her dead twin sister, whom she's never met, and wed Lord Leo, known as "the Beast of Benwick." It's a challenge, to be sure, further complicated by the fact that Luciana, born during a rare celestial event, possesses the forbidden magical powers of the Embraced. A political marriage to a complete stranger who can (and does) kill with a mere touch? Luciana's got her work cut out for her. This intricately plotted series opener continues with So I Married a Sorcerer, which expands the series' detailed world-building.

The Scandalous Adventures of the Sister of the Bride by Victoria AlexanderVictorian Romance. Prim and proper Delilah, Lady Hargate is an eminently respectable English widow. Which is why, during a trip to New York, she impulsively throws caution to the wind and enjoys a one-night stand with handsome American Samuel Russell. What's the harm? It's not like she expects to see him again. Then Sam shows up at her sister's wedding (he's a friend of the groom) and Delilah is suddenly confronted with her best mistake. Likable leads, witty banter, and transatlantic hijinks make this 3rd steamy installment of the Millworth Manor series a must-read.

The Art of Sinning by Sabrina JeffriesRegency Historical. American artist Jeremy Keane is planning to paint a masterpiece, and for that, he needs a muse. He finds an ideal model in the striking Lady Yvette Barlow, but her status as an unmarried young woman from a respectable (and protective!) family presents difficulties. To Jeremy's surprise, Yvette agrees to pose for him on one condition: he must be her guide to London's brothels as she searches for a missing woman. There are so many ways for this harebrained scheme to end in scandal that it's a question of when, not if. This engaging and steamy novel is the 1st book in the Sinful Suitors series.

Viscount Breckenridge to the Rescue by Stephanie LaurensRegency Historical. At 25, Miss Heather Cynster is practically "on the shelf." To avoid spinsterhood, she needs a suitor, and to find one, she'll have to go where the boys are: racy soirées in dangerous parts of town. Alas, no sooner does she find a roomful of bachelors than family friend Timothy, Viscount Breckenridge recognizes Heather and escorts her to the door (despite her vociferous protests). But before he can see her safely home, she's abducted and taken away in a carriage. Kidnappings are practically a Cynster family tradition, so if you enjoy romantic rescues, don't miss this opening installment of the Cynster Sisters trilogy (which is also book 16 in the main Cynsters series).

The Rogue Not Taken: Scandal & Scoundrel, Book 1 by Sarah MacLeanRegency Historical. After impulsively shoving her sister's philandering husband into a fishpond during a garden party, Lady Sophie Talbot is in dire need of an exit strategy. Disguising herself in footman's livery, she hops aboard the Marquess of Eversley's departing carriage. Alas, Eversley is not London-bound; he's headed to his country estate. Whether she likes it or not, Sophie's traveling companion for the foreseeable future is the scoundrel whom Society has dubbed "the Royal Rogue," a man as attractive as he is infuriating. Loosely linked to author Sarah MacLean's previous Love by Numbers and Rules of Scoundrels series, The Rogue Not Taken shares its predecessors' sharp wit and steamy sensuality.
