From the Director's Desk What's New?
|
|
Libraries are increasingly facing new challenges in our efforts to provide digital content to our users. We are monitoring several recent developments which are causing some changes to our digital offerings. Publishers as well as content producers are changing terms and prices. Recently, a major publisher imposed embargoes on new books. The American Library Association has denounced the move in a recent press release. Other publishers have raised their prices and have imposed two year limits on books which may price libraries out of the market. And if money wasn't a big enough worry, some companies have imposed new access rules which have created privacy concerns. The Library will be dropping Lynda.com due to changes in their privacy settings. Further info can be found here. We will keep everyone posted on upcoming changes and will be working hard to find alternative products and services. Mary Hogan, Library Director.
