Makerspace Online Training

Before using 3D printers, laser cutters, and the CNC router at PPLD's makerspaces, you need to be "badged" (trained). While we offer a variety of in-person classes, you can also watch our online badging videos for the 3D printers and laser cutters.

These videos do not teach you the design software but will walk you through using the machines. They are perfect if you want to start using the machines right away.

Once you finish the video training, head over to your nearest PPLD makerspace and start using the equipment during Open Hours.

Reservations

The makerspaces can get very busy in November and December as people make custom gifts, so don't forget to reserve the equipment online. Each type of machine can be reserved twice a month at each location.

Walk-ins are always welcome (and do not count against your reservation limits), but reserving equipment helps ensure the machines you need are ready and available for you.

Reserve your equipment up to one week in advance at ppld.org/create/reserve-equipment.

Find Project Design Files or
Make Your Own

Looking to become a maker but not sure where to begin? Most of our machines work with files you can find online. Some sites have free resources, others let creators sell their files.

If you are interested in making your own designs, Inkscape is one of the most versatile design applications available, enabling you to create designs for the laser cutter, button maker, embroidery machines, and more.
