The Kitchen at Library 21c

Library21c has a commercial kitchen classroom where Scott Crum, culinary instructor, teaches cooking classes throughout the year. We are currently wrapping up our summer cooking series where we taught classes on making granola, dog treats, gazpacho soup, and more. Keep an eye on our program calendar for our winter series, starting soon.

All three of Pikes Peak Library District's (PPLD) makerspaces have 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and die cutters, but did you know that each one also has unique equipment? Don’t forget you can reserve any of the equipment online. Learn more about these creative spaces at ppld.org/makerspaces.

Sewing at East Library
East Library has two high-end sewing machines for people to use. The first is the Juki, which can do up to 1,500 stitches per minute, twice as fast as our other sewing machines. The other is the Sailrite, which gets its name from the fact that it is designed to work with heavy canvas used for creating boat sales. It can also do an assortment of other types of heavy fabric, including denim, drapery, vinyl, and more.

Woodworking at Library 21c
Library21c has a CNC (computer numerical controlled) router that can be used for cutting through wood, acrylic, and other materials. See our Subject Guide for more information on what it can do. Training is required to use this machine, so you will need to take one of our in-person classes that we offer twice a month.

Clay at Sand Creek Library
Sand Creek Library has a kiln so that PPLD can offer classes on working with clay. The kiln isn’t available during regular open hours, but if you want to experiment with clay, sign up for one of our clay exploration classes. Over two class sessions you will make a clay project and then glaze it. Registration fills up fast for these popular classes, so be sure to register early.

No-Cost Studio Consultations
Do you have something you need to record in our audio or video studio but you aren’t sure what you need to do to get your project done? Set up a consultation with one of our studio experts by selecting "Book a Librarian." They will show you what we have available in our studio spaces and will work with you to figure out the best way of doing your project.

Take Studio Equipment Home
We also have studio equipment that you can check out and take home with you. We have cameras, portable light kits, microphones, and more. If you have the space or need to shoot while on the road, outdoors, or on location you can check out a full studio’s worth of equipment for one week. Visit our website for all of the information you need to know about reserving our equipment. Please note that you must have a library card that starts with a 4 to rent this equipment, but anyone with a PPLD library card can reserve the studios at Library 21c and Sand Creek.
