"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home." ~Edith Sitwell~

It feels like not a day goes by without another unpleasant event being covered in the news. Whether it's right in our backyard or across the border, there's no escaping. Sometimes I just want to curl up in bed with some coffee and a good book and ignore the outside world. We could all use some comfort now and then, and with that in mind, I've rounded up some great book and movies. So put on your fluffiest socks and your coziest sweats and curl up on the couch. Let's take a break from reality, shall we? ~Marie~

Want to write a novel in November?
November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Participants can register via the NaNoWriMo website to attempt to write 50,000 words in any genre during the month. This year the Canmore Library will be a Come Write In location and we'll offer participants space to write during regular library hours. We're also preparing a display of novels begun through NaNoWriMo - some international bestsellers. As well, we're hosting three NaNoWriMo events. November 1 at 6:00 p.m., there will be a Launch Party where participants can get to know one another, offer encouragement, watch a pep talk, and launch into their project. Refreshments and some resources will be provided. Late in the month we'll host an after-hours Write-In marathon writing session, at a date and timed to be confirmed with participants. Then, on Friday, December 1, we'll get together to celebrate the end of the event and hopefully, the creation of some novels!!
