 National Hispanic/LatinX Heritage Month is annually celebrated in the United States to recognize the contributions and influence of Latinx/Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

R.E.A.D.
R.E.A.D. is the Santa Cruz Public Libraries’
reading and comprehension instruction for
students in 1st through 12th grade.
 
Students receive 25 minutes of individual instruction from a California credentialed teacher.

Tales to Tails
 
Tales to Tails is a literacy program designed to help children improve their comprehension, fluency, and confidence in reading by providing them the opportunity to read aloud to certified therapy dogs.

Educator Resources
The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is sponsoring a limited number of free subscriptions to Kind News to any teacher or educator in the county.
Kind News uses engaging articles and short features to inspire kids to be kind to animals and people. Kind News is written for grades 3-6, while Kind News Jr. is written for K-2. Email Dana.Morey@santacruzcountyca.gov with your interest, along with your name, address, school, and grade level.
Resource Spotlight
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - Now Available in Santa Cruz County!
 
This program provides FREE books to children from birth to age five, regardless of family income. After registering, children will get an age-appropriate, English, or Bilingual book EVERY MONTH. Books are mailed directly to the child’s home!
