13 MORE Freaky Flicks for Your Best Halloween Movie Marathon Yet Eli and Rachel W. couldn’t narrow their list down, so they’re back with some more faves, cult classics, and deep cuts.

As Above, So Below (2014) | Rated R
Rachel: This film is as twisty and turny as the Paris catacombs it inhabits. It’s found footage, and we always need more of those. It has moments that are both touching and terrifying, and is a definite rewatch once every year or so.

Clue (1985) | Rated PG
Eli: A hilarious whodunnit with three possible endings and a legendary cast (Madeline Kahn! Christopher Lloyd! Tim Curry!!). It's as wacky as it is quotable: "Communism was just a red herring" is a long-time favorite of mine.
The Devil’s Backbone (2001) | Rated R
Eli: In this older sibling to the Academy Award-winning Pan’s Labyrinth, director Guillermo del Toro asks the simple yet profound question, “What is a ghost?” Featuring the most creative and— ahem— haunting ghost design I’ve ever seen.
Disturbia (2007) | Rated PG-13
Rachel: Being on house arrest in the summer as a teenager would suck no matter who you are, but if you’re on house arrest and you think your neighbor is a murderer?? This is campy and delightful and is a good one for beginner horror fans!
Frankenweenie (2012) | Rated PG
Rachel: Had to have one for the kids in this list too. Frankenstein meets Pet Sematary mixed with Tim Burton’s usual flair for the dramatic and macabre. Sparky is adorable, and who wouldn’t want to bring their best furry friend back if they could?
House of 1,000 Corpses (2003) | Rated R
Rachel: Rob Zombie is polarizing (seriously, you can skip his interpretation of Halloween), but he did something right with this one. While “The Museum of Monsters & Madmen” is totally lame, the rest of the film is anything but.
Night of the Living Dead (1968) | Not rated
Eli: Go back to the beginning, to the movie that redefined the zombie and brought horror to America’s suburbs. It’s a good time to look back and see where the influences of modern horror came from.
The Others (2001) | Rated PG-13
Rachel: This is one of those movies I can’t say too much about without giving away how clever it is. It’s not your typical ghost story, but it is a brilliant ghost story.
Practical Magic (1998) | Rated PG-13
Eli: For all the spooky romantics, this cult classic stars Certified 90s It Girls Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as sister sorceresses doing the full witch trifecta: casting spells, breaking curses, and falling in love.
The Skeleton Key (2005) | Rated PG-13
Rachel: Voodoo, hoodoo, whatever you do, don’t skip this one. It’s underrated and Kate Hudson up against Gena Rowlands is everything and more. The bayou setting and the edge-of-your-seat-'til-the-end plot really make this film a star.
Willard (1971) | Rated PG
Eli: This one is for my fellow rat appreciators (intellectuals) and fans of Carrie. You can also check out the 2003 remake of the same name for the part Crispin Glover was born to play.

Population: one kind old lady, one crabby old man, one timid dog, and all sorts of creepy creatures, scary monsters, and crazed villains!
