| A Simple Spring: A Seasons of Lancaster Novel by Rosalind LauerAmish Fiction. | The Winds of Autumn by Janette OkeHistorical Fiction. In this 2nd book in the coming-of-age Seasons of the Heart series narrated by orphaned Josh Jones, he is a teenager and, unlike many of his peers, still attends school. Josh's relatives -- he lives with his grandfather, great uncle, and great-grandfather at a farm on weekends and his aunt and her husband near the school in town during the week -- value education. But when a new school teacher who isn't a Christian comes to town, Josh hears confusing views about God. Readers who enjoy a prominent faith thread throughout their fiction and who'd like to listen as Josh "spins his family's saga like a Huck Finn on the prairie" (School Library Journal) will relish this book and the entire series (the 1st is Once Upon a Summer). |
