Businesses Support Post Falls Foundation Trivia Event
Make plans to attend the Post Falls Library Foundation trivia contest, Friday, April 7, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The event takes place after-hours at the library, and is only open to those 21 and older. A suggested donation of $20 per person at the door will secure a seat at a table for four to six or allow spectator rights. All donations are tax-deductible. Enoteca Manager Katie Castro will lend her expertise to emcee the event. Other local businesses supporting the event include the Coffee Cottage, The White House Grill, and Post Falls Brewery. Wine and beer will be sold, with a percentage of the proceeds going to improve the library. Enoteca and Post Falls Brewery will also give away some prizes to the lucky trivia champs. Free appetizers and coffee will be available too, thanks to The White House Grill and Coffee Cottage. Tom Lien, foundation treasurer, has challenged a number of business and organizations to test their knowledge. Those who want to form or join a team are encouraged to do so. For more information, call Tom Lien, 509-844-8720 or visit CommunityLibrary.Net/Trivia.

Hayden, Rathdrum & Post Falls Libraries Host Science Fiction Author Fonda Lee
Fonda Lee, an award-winning science fiction author, will present at three Community Library Network locations in April. On Tuesday, April 11, she will be at the Hayden Library at 6:30 p.m., the Rathdrum Library on Wednesday, April 12, at 3:30 p.m., and the Post Falls Library at 6:30 p.m. The Idaho Humanities Council sponsored the free presentations and no registration is required. At the age of thirty-two Fonda Lee gave up her corporate life to pursue her lifelong dream of writing. Her second book, Exo, published in January, takes alien invasion into new territory—an earth that has been occupied by aliens for 150 years. Some humans have bought into the system as part of an intergalactic community, while others have not. Lee said she writes science fiction because the genre is a means for writers and readers to hold up a mirror to humanity. In designing aliens for her latest book, she said, “More complex and interesting aliens with nuanced motives, who have varied and multi-dimensional interactions with humans, show us a picture of ourselves that is more honest, more candid, with higher definition.” For more information visit CommunityLibrary.Net/Author.

Post Falls Library Welcomes New Community Librarian
Staff at the Community Library Network at Post Falls welcomes Jennifer Craft as the new Community Librarian and Manager. Craft, who started working for the District in late March, holds a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Washington, with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Idaho. Craft isn’t far from Orofino, where her family moved in 1977, but she did take a circuitous route to get to Post Falls. While attending graduate school in Seattle, she worked at the Seattle Public Library, then moved on to Wake County Public Library in Raleigh, North Carolina, before spending the past 17 years as a Librarian/Library Manager for various branches of the New York Public Library in Manhattan. Although she has worked and lived in big cities, she said Post Falls Library is just right for her. “The hard-working and dedicated team at the Library has been so welcoming and warm. I am reminded daily of how vital and necessary libraries are in people’s lives, by seeing how appreciated the spaces, staff and programs are.” She is looking forward to becoming an integral part of the library family and community. Former Librarian and Manager Rebecca Melton has moved into the position of Assistant Director for the District.
