Wednesday, January 21, 6:30 – 7:30 pmUnplugged Coding introduces foundational computer science concepts through engaging, hands-on activities that require no computers or screens. Children learn essential skills like algorithmic thinking, sequencing, and debugging by playing games, solving puzzles, and using physical manipulatives. This program builds crucial cognitive skills and a strong understanding of how programs work, all while fostering collaboration and creative problem-solving. For ages 6-11. Registration is required.

Thursday, January 22, 4:45 – 5:45 pmBuild It, Break It, Explore It! Calling all curious creators ages 6–11! Join our Big STEAMers Structures & Stories Program, where science and imagination collide. Kids will dive into the fascinating world of structures—from bridges and towers to everyday objects—while discovering what makes them strong, stable, and sometimes… spooky! Inspired by the beloved book Creepy Carrots, we’ll mix engineering fun with storytelling magic. Build your own “carrot-proof” creations, design clever traps, and learn how structure and function work together in the real world. Hands-on projects, creative challenges, and a dash of creepy fun—this is science you can build on! For ages 6-11. Registration is required.

Winter Reading ProgramThere's still time to participate in this year's Winter Reading Program, which continues through January 24th! Participants can take part in the reading program by playing our Winter Reading Bingo game! Complete activities to get five in a row (up, down, across, or diagonal). Then bring your Bingo sheet back to your local branch, where kids and teens will automatically receive a prize, and adults will be entered into a raffle for a prize!

MLK Jr. Day of Service Card and Letter Writing DriveThe Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday is a national day of service celebrating the civil rights leader’s life and legacy. From January 12th through February 6th, all branches of MCLS are offering opportunities for community members to write letters or make handmade cards to be delivered to homebound participants of the Mercer County Meals on Wheels program. MCLS invites community members of all ages to take a moment to create a letter or greeting card, to make someone's day a little more special. Branch NewsWhile we are really excited about the roof refurbishment – we will miss you! Don’t forget about all the great virtual programs – you can stay home, stay warm and still be entertained and educated. In February we expect to be back with a regular schedule of programs! There will be Crafts and Book Club and all the regulars. The Wednesday Film Festival will be paying tribute to the late great Diane Keaton. Also keep an eye out for our annual Lunar New Year event for all ages, featuring a demo by the Princeton Chinese Language School!
