Join Katie Chase, archivist with the Hopewell Valley Historical Society, for an illustrated talk featuring images and stories from Titusville Elementary School, primarily from the 1950s. Unearthing History, One Page at a Time: Women of the Early RepublicMonday, May 11, 6:30 – 8:00 pmDiscover American history through the daily lives of four women—Anne “Nancy” Hume Shippen Livingston, Rebecca Lloyd Nicholson, Margaret Bayard Smith, and Anna Maria Brodeau Thornton. Using the Library of Congress “By the People” project, participants will help transcribe letters, diaries, and other firsthand accounts from the Revolutionary era and early republic. These writings offer insight into a changing political landscape and the social limits women navigated. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop; a limited number will be available.
