Becoming Frederick Douglass

The inspiring story of how a man born into slavery became one of the most prominent statesmen and influential voices for democracy in American history. Born in 1818 on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Frederick Douglass escaped from slavery in 1838 and went on to become the most well-known leader of the abolitionist movement. Run time: 60 minutes
Learn & Play Game Night: Machi Koro

Learn and play a new game each month. No experience or history with boardgames required. This month’s game: Machi Koro. As a newly elected mayor, develop a city and populate it with impressive landmarks. Seats are limited. Registration is required.

Tax Help at the Library
Several MCLS branches are hosting free tax preparation from AARP Tax-Aide. Use the AARP Tax-Aide Locator to schedule an appointment. Search by your city or zip code to find available times at a location near you. If no appointments appear available, check back—cancellations open new slots regularly.
TrashedArt Contest
The TrashedArt Contest is back! Remake, reuse and renew the items you would recycle or throw in the trash into something unique and beautiful and rethink the usefulness of garbage. The contest celebrates Earth Day by encouraging patrons to turn ordinary trash into extraordinary art. Submit your artwork to the Lawrence Headquarters Branch between February 24th - March 3rd.
