This Thanksgiving I am grateful to the people of North Attleborough for their support of the library and its mission to serve the com-munity. The spirit of this town never ceases to impress and inspire me. And, at Thanksgiving, we should keep those in need high in our thoughts. This library collects food and toiletries year ‘round that will be distributed through Lenore’s Pantry at the Board of Health’s office in Town Hall. You may drop off dried or canned food; toothpaste, brushes, soaps and shampoos at the circulation desk and they will be collected for our neighbors’ use. Thanks, again.

Tomte Visit As we enter December, we're inviting everyone to visit the many tomte who are coming to make the library a cheerier place. Ordinarily, tomte, small folk who protect the farms and animals in Sweden, remain hidden and never venture far from home. This year, however, we were asked if we would host a group of touring tomte as they explore libraries in Massachusetts. We are expecting a fair number of visitors. They are shy, but very observant and interested in the ways of others. They have agreed to discreetly take up spots in the library where they can observe and not disturb the habits of the North Attleboro library patron. Beginning Dec. 3rd, please come by and discreetly observe and do not disturb them also. As you wander about the library, try to keep count of how many tomte are here. Hint, most, but not all, tomte wear red caps. Enter your best guess as to their number. We will have two drawings on Dec. 17th from among the correct answers. One small prize will be awarded to a winner under sixteen years of age, another to someone sixteen plus. Visit the library, join the fun! We are planning a busy December. Storytimes will be held at 10 am, Dec. 2 through Dec. 5. The program on Monarch Butterflies has been rescheduled and will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 at 10 am. Our annual Snowman and Cocoa party will be on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 10 am. Miss Meg will be back with Music and Movement on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 9:45 am for children 0 - 3 years and at 10:30 for kids 3 - 6 years old. He lead a Revolution, signed a sacred American Document and was several times elected Governor of the Commonwealth. Who was this man? John Hancock. Registration is encouraged. Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7 pm, join Marjorie for Adult Christmas Ornament Craft program. There will be a project made with cinnamon sticks and one with paper. Space is limited so call to reserve your spot. There is no Evening Book Discussion meeting for December. Instead we will be reading The Bully Pulpit by Doris Kearns Goodwin for Jan. 27. This is a 750 page book (if you don't read the endnotes) so we will have 2 months to read it. It is available now at the Reference Desk.
