The town has changed its form of government from an RTM and Board of Selectmen to a more centralized Town Council and Town Manager. The governance of the library has changed also. The Board of Trustees had been comprised of six elected members. Now it has grown to seven, and all trustees in the future will be appointed by the Town Manager rather than elected. The new, seventh seat on the Board has just been filled by David Volkin. The rest of the Board and I welcome him and thank him for volunteering to serve the town.

October is looking like a very busy, exciting month in the Youth Services Department! All the third grade classes in North Attleborough come to visit and tour the library. We (and most of the SAILS) use a program called Tixkeeper to manage the Museum Pass reservations. The newest trend is for e-tickets which allow you to reserve and print-out (or text) the pass from your own computer. Right now just the Boston Children's Museum has this feature, but it means, if you need a Boston Children's Museum pass for more than 4, you can go to one of the other SAILS libraries and "checkout" another pass. Other changes for our Museum Passes is that our RISD passes end in December and we will no longer carry the PawSox tickets. RISD is free on Sundays if you would still like to go. We have added the Isabella Stewart Gardner pass and the RI Recycling for Education pass which allows you to collect material for school projects, troop activities and more. Good for teachers. OverDrive has reassessed their decision on a Mac app for older systems. Starting Oct. 2, the app will again be available for downloading audiobooks to transfer to your gadget.
