There is a vacancy on the Board of Library Trustees. Rebecca Cummings has recently retired from the Board after years of devoted service. Everyone here thanks Becky for her advocacy for the Richards Memorial. The Board of Selectmen has advertised the vacancy. Anyone interested in serving should inquire with the office of the Board of Selectmen at the Town Hall. The Board meets once a month, almost always on the second Thursday of the month at the library at 7:00 PM. The library is about to start a process of discernment in order to write a new long-range plan. The plan will be sent to the Library Commissioners for approval and will guide the library’s actions through the next five years after its eventual approval. The first step in this process will be a survey that will appear on the Library’s website in September. Please take the time to fill out the survey when it appears so that we will better know how to best serve you in the future.

Besides books, dvds and cds, the Friends are also looking for raffle items for the book sale. If you have anything you might like to provide for our raffles, give the library a call and we'll pass the information on to the committee. We have a really good selection of new books donated so the sale should be great this year. The sale will be September 27, 28, & 29 at the DPW on Whiting St

For a while SAILS has partnered with Minuteman and Old Colony library systems to share access to OverDrive e-books and downloadable audio books. This Reciprocal Borrowing Project now includes all of CLAMS, CW/Mars, Minuteman, Old Colony Library Network (OCLN) and SAILS. Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) and North of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE) should be joining the project soon . If you are using the Libby app, you can get to the other collections by clicking on Actions and selecting Go To Another Library. This means more availability of titles. The bestsellers will still be out at most libraries, but you may find some "B-list" books that SAILS does not own. And Massachusetts residents or workers can get a Boston Library e-card and borrow from the Boston Public Library e-resources. (BPL.org)
