If you like Charles de Lint, try these...
Canadian Charles de Lint originally planned to be a musician--but now he's one of the founders and most talented writers of urban fantasy (though he prefers the term "mythic fiction"). In this subgenre, the worlds of myth and folklore exist along with our more mundane world and some beings are able to walk and live in both worlds, co-mingling with modern people in their everyday lives. If you haven't read de Lint before, check out his short story collection, Dreams Underfoot, or his novel Memory and Dream; both are part of his popular Newford series. If you are already a de Lint fan or are waiting to read his latest novel, Promises to Keep, check out the books below.

Things get even more chaotic when she learns that she's been chosen to aid the Seelie faerie court in their bitter, age-old battle against the Unseelie court; and, since she's dealing with the fey, it's an offer she can't refuse. With a faerie guardian who can take the form of a dog or a man, Eddi tries to help--and put her life back together. Music and its power are so integral to this novel that de Lint fans will feel right at home.

De Lint fans should enjoy author Nina Kiriki Hoffman's well-drawn setting and her use of language (Publishers Weekly says her "lyrical writing flows at a perfect pace and is as engaging as the characters").
