Kwanzaa Celebration
Celebrate LIFE, COMMUNITY, and CULTURE this Kwanzaa from the comfort of your home. 
Become immersed in the African storytelling of Afiah Bey. Be creative and learn about African textiles with Renee Miche'al Jones. We will also honor award- winning author and illustrator Jerry Pinkney.
 
The first 75 registrants will receive a Kwanzaa craft kit with materials to create their own African textile and 2 mystery book giveaways. 
All kits and books are while supplies last.
 
If that isn't enough, during the program we will announce 2 grand prize winners from the registrants to win a YBR gift basket filled with Jerry Pinkney books and more! 
This Kwanzaa celebration is going to be spectacular!

Booker T. Washington HSPVA Audition Workshops
Help your students start their journey in becoming a Booker T. Creative Revolutionary!
 
Current 8th grade students will learn the essentials with these free virtual audition workshops. Audition workshops will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. No need to bring any materials or information. Registration is not required.

Express Yourself!
The Express Yourself! Youth Poetry Competition and Cover Art Contest is an opportunity for students in grades 2-12 to submit their original works of poetry and art for a chance to be published in an anthology.

Don't Forget Your Library Card!
All students who attend a public or charter school in the city of Dallas and their teachers are eligible for library cards from Dallas Public Library.
 
To enroll your students, email libyouthservices@dallascityhall.com to get started. Physical cards will not be issued at this time, but e-card numbers can be used for physical and electronic materials. 
 
Teachers who want an Educator Card can apply to librarycustomerservice@dallaslibrary.org and get extended check-out periods. Remember we are fine free!
