Along with all our regular Youth Services programs, we have two extra-special programs this month that you won't want to miss! December 13 @ 10:30: Early Literacy Celebration We hope you'll join us for our annual Early Literacy Celebration on December 13th at 10:30 am. We'll use this special storytime to talk about the five early literacy practices- singing, talking, reading, writing, and playing. We'll have play stations set up so families can practice each kind of literacy, and we'll be giving away some amazing prizes! As a special treat, we've invited our local legislators and city council members to give out prizes. Families with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers are all invited to participate; it's going to be so much fun! December 14 from 11 am - 1 pm: Stories with Santa Join us anytime between 11am and 1pm for an indoor storywalk and other fun activities, all with our special guest— Santa Claus!

Step into the holiday spirit with the Twin Falls Public Library and the Twin Falls Theatre Collective as we present our first-ever community reading of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol on Saturday, Dec. 7th, beginning at 2:00 pm. We need YOU to read the story! Sign up to read a short portion, or simply come to listen and enjoy. Sip on hot cocoa, snack on festive treats, and work on a cozy craft while the story unfolds. Dress in festive attire or costumes (optional but fun!) to add to the holiday cheer. Sign up for a 7-10 minute reading slot and be part of this magical event! Readers of all levels are welcome. Sign up at tfpl.org/community-read or call the Reference Desk at 208-733-2964 ext. 208. And that's not where the holiday fun ends! We're bringing back patron-favorite program: Secret Santa Holds! Recommend a book you love, and in return, you’ll receive a hand-picked recommendation from another patron. It’s a fun way to discover something new while sharing your favorite reads with others! Here’s how it works: Fill out the form on our website by December 14th, telling us about a book you’d recommend and the kinds of books you enjoy reading. (We also have paper forms are available at the Reference Desk!) Then, we’ll match your title to another patron and find another recommended that we think you’ll love. Once your Secret Santa hold is ready, we’ll give you a call to let you know it’s available for pickup—ready to unwrap and enjoy!

"A great mystery/thriller that definitely keep you on your toes. You think you have it figured out when a single woman stays at an Airbnb ranch in Wyoming with the owner onsite. You meet some interesting characters and try to figure out what's going on. Some romance in this mystery book, along with a twist at the end. Two if you ask me since I wasn't expecting the very ending of this book." Description: Overworked city gal Grace Evans is ready for a relaxing getaway on a Wyoming ranch, where the owner is handsome Calvin Wells. But when she hears of a missing woman, things soon change for the worse.

Here's what Jennifer in Adult Services said about North Woods:
If you’re looking for a good book to cuddle up with on a wintry afternoon, I highly recommend North Woods by Daniel Mason. The story covers about 400 years, and focuses on a small plot of land and the house that sits upon it. Through the lens of this site, readers witness the people, plants, animals, and events that impact the property. The sense of place is strong, and Mason’s lyrical voice and imagery will keep you fascinated by all that happens over the years. Spend some time in the North Woods! (I also recommend Mason’s The Piano Tuner and The Winter Soldier.)" Exploring the many ways we're connected to our environment and to one another across time, language and space, this sweeping collection of stories about a single house in the woods of New England is told through the lives of an extraordinary succession of inhabitants.
