Fort Myers Regional Library Upcoming Genealogy Programs November 2024
Good Afternoon: Here are the upcoming programs on genealogy research for the month of November 2024. All programs are free and open to the public but advance registration is required.
Topic: The Interesting Historical Evolution of Crime in the United States
Speaker: Bryan L. Mulcahy, Reference-Genealogy Librarian, Fort Myers Regional Library
Synopsis: Our seminar will provide an overview of how crime has impacted the lives of some of our ancestors throughout American history. This will include an overview of what constituted criminal activities from a historical context. The study guide that supplements the presentation will contain links and brief descriptions of the strange and unusual punishments in early American history. The discussion will include what types of records exist that can be searched for greater detail about criminal activity.

Synopsis: - South Building Meeting Rooms AB – 10am-Noon– Our seminar will examine German immigration and its impact on American society. German immigration to American soil began in the late 1600s and peaked in the 1800s. Discussion will review the impact those many German immigrants had on American culture and society.
