Classroom Checkout Program
|
|
Looking for classroom materials? Checking out materials via our Classroom Checkout Program allows you to have materials for extended times and avoid overdue fines. Contact us with the topic, grade, number of students, as well as your contact info, and YS staff will gather appropriate resources and have them available for pick-up at the library. Please allow 48 hours for our librarians to put together your resources. For pickups between Saturday-Monday, requests must be placed by the end of the day (7 PM) on the prior Thursday. *Teachers may check out materials for their own use by registering their Illinois library card at the Checkout Desk.

According to the NAEYC, there are many ways that babies and children learn when we sing to them. Some of these include: - Family fun: Singing can be a family activity that can build a bond between siblings or even become a special tradition.
- Listening skills: Like reading, singing is an activity that requires listening. It's a great opportunity for them to understand the feelings expressed through sing-play.
- Transitions: Children feel safe when life is predictable. A song for snack time, nap time, or other activities helps them know what comes next.
- Language: When you sing or speak, children learn about new vocabulary and language comprehension.
- Rhythm and rhyme: Music helps children develop an understanding for this part of language.
