The five early literacy tips are reading, writing, singing, talking, and playing. According to Toronto Public Library, singing is a great way to make language come alive for you and your child. Singing helps children sound out words as they learn to read. Singing allows children to hear the smaller sounds in words and helps them to build their vocabulary. Being able to hear and recognize the beginning, middle, and ending sounds that make up words helps children sound out words when they begin to read.
