Summer Reading is coming back on Beanstack! As you know, the summer learning gap is a real challenge that our students face. The Summer Reading Program (SRP) is a great way to keep kids engaged in reading throughout the summer, with some fun prizes along the way, including a free book when they finish! This year's theme is Oceans of Possibilities. Think oceans, sea life, and fun under the sun! In addition to SRP, we have great programs for children of all ages, from book clubs to storytimes to crafts and more! We are working on a promotional video that you can send out to your students. Look out for it on our YouTube page! |

Early Literacy Tip...Writing
|
|
According to Pacer.org, from the moment babies are born, they start developing literacy skills through their relationship with their parents. By talking, reading, singing, and playing with your infant or toddler, you provide the foundation your child will need to develop language and reading skills. Ways to encourage writing include: - Provide daily opportunities for young children to draw or write with different instruments (i.e., crayons, pencils, markers, pens, paintbrushes)
- Have children help you make grocery lists, sign birthday cards, or enter events on the family calendar
- Display children’s scribbling, writing, and art work at the child’s viewing level
- Recognize the importance of drawing, coloring, and scribble writing
- Help children learn colors, shapes, sizes, and names of letters
