As of June 1st, 2026 the monthly hoopla borrowing limit will decrease to 5 borrows per month. Patrons will have 5 borrows per month instead of 10. This change helps us keep hoopla available to everyone while managing rising costs.
Make the most of your 5 borrows
Start with a Binge Pass: One borrow gives you 7 days of access to the full collection.
Save Items for Later: Add items to your favorites so you can check them out when your borrows reset at the start of each month.
Other library app options: Some titles are available on Libby (Overdrive). This helps you save your hoopla borrows for items that are only in hoopla.
Most Burlingame Public Library hoopla users check out 3-4 items each month, with each borrow costing the library $2.99 or more, depending on the format of each title. Lowering the monthly limit to 5 borrows helps us continue to afford the rising costs of hoopla while maintaining full access to the app for all our patrons.
