What's New at CobourgPL?
A Huge "Thank you" to our amazing Cobourg Public Library Volunteer Team!
Your dedication, hard work, and kindness make our Library a better place for everyone. We are so grateful for everything you do to support our community! 🙏📚
This year, volunteers helped package over 3,000 seeds for our seed library, delivered materials to homebound patrons, kept our shelves tidy, folded brochures, did behind-the-scenes work, and supported our children's programming — just to name a few!
In 2024, a total of 2,466 hours were logged by volunteers.
That's 103 days of invaluable service! 💙
This Volunteer Week, we celebrate YOU and all the incredible ways you help us thrive. 💙  Want to join our volunteer team? Learn more here: https://buff.ly/3ShPlCH 🌟
April is National Poetry Month
Celebrate National Poetry Month 2025 using the theme FAMILY in its many forms: found and chosen family, birth family, and family that defies categorization.
This April, turn to poetry to celebrate, cherish, mourn, critique, and explore the myriad bonds that family forms in our lives. Parents, pets, friendships, soulmates, siblings, plants, and beyond: the League invites you to examine the shape of family in your life now, to witness the intergenerational impact of ancestors, and to consider the role of family in generations to come. -  League of Canadian Poets

Celebrating 30 Years of the Cobourg Public Library
on Ontario Street!
This year marks our 30th anniversary of serving the citizens of Cobourg and Hamilton Township from our beautiful building on Ontario Street.
We will be celebrating with an Open House on Sunday, September 28th
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Each month, we will feature how our Library has changed and evolved over the last 30 years.
This month, we are starting with the Adult Non-Fiction area on the 2nd floor.  When the Library was still on Chapel Street, this collection was split between two rooms on the 1st floor with the remainder on the 2nd floor - accessible only by the spiral staircase.  Our Ontario St. location
in 1995 there was no public Internet, no Wi-Fi,
no public computers.  There was a photocopier, Reference Books and a Government Documents collection.  The microfilm cabinets and readers were not in the Local History Room.  There was a work table where the public computers are now.
