RCLS Professional Development Scholarship
The application period for the
Spring 2023 RCLS Professional Development Scholarship
is open until February 3rd, 2022.
The Professional Development Scholarship seeks to improve the
skills and abilities of our member library staff who wish
to attend a professional development program or course
but are unable due to budgetary constraints.

YOUTH MEDIA AWARDS 2023!
 
The 2023 Youth Media Award announcements will take place
on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. CT,
during LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience,
ALA's newest conference offering launched in 2022.
 
Winners are selected by committees composed of librarians
and other literature and media experts.  The awards encourage
original and creative work in the field of children’s
and young adult literature and media.

From Bach to Rock: 
Interpreting Sound on the Cello
with Alex Prizgintas
Saturday, February 4, 2023 12:00-1:00 PM
 
Regional musician Alex Prizgintas
brings his program to the
Ellenville Public Library and Museum. 
 
In addition to performing the cello in its traditional form, Alex employs an assortment of guitar pedals to generate altered tones. He couples music with a historical narrative that traces the history of baroque-era composers, jazz artists, and Rock n’ Roll bands.
 
A special event for audiences of any age, his performances have been enjoyed by patrons at numerous venues throughout the RCLS service area.

Monroe Free Library loves the Arts!
Beginning in July of 2022 MFL started their "Year of the Arts" - a themed series of programs and services that will continue through June 2023.
Each month, the library focuses on a different Arts discipline. The Year of the Arts aims to provide a venue for the community to interact with the arts and to spark and support new artists.
 
Upcoming featured Arts are:
February- Poetry
March - Painting
April - Floral Design
May - Drama
June - Drawing

 
Livingston Manor Free Library has unveiled their NEW logo; a fresh look for 2023!
 
 
They posted this announcement on their website:  
"As the Livingston Manor Business District continues to grow,

Advocacy Workshop (online)
Thursday, February 2, 2023 ~ Time: 10:00 - 11:30 am
This session will focus on taking a close look at messaging towards
elected officials. Advocacy messages will be produced during
this session and will be sent to elected officials.
Open to anyone; this session will not be recorded. 
Participants must have access to a microphone and camera during this session. In order to receive credit, participation is mandatory. (1.5 continuing education credit hours)

RCLS has licensed JobNow for libraries to help provide patrons and students with a resource for job and career search success.
JobNow provides live, interactive online help combined with online resources to help your patrons and students get jobs. A "resume lab" and live online job coaches help job seekers target jobs and prepare and practice for job interviews. The Adult Learning Center provides foundational, career-enhancing skills to adult learners through test preparation (including the GED and the U.S. Citizenship Test) and features live, online academic tutors for writing assistance, computer literacy, and essential software assistance.
