RCLS Scholarship Awardees share reflections on the 2024 Banned Books Symposium "...I now feel more prepared to handle a book challenge. Knowing that there are many resources out there to help gives me reassurance that we are not in this fight alone. I also feel that I could now plan a banned books program and frame it in a way to garner community support instead of pushback. Programs like the Symposium educate us and make us better librarians..." Ciera Moore, Adult Program Coordinator, Western Sullivan Public Library "The day served as a reminder that there is active political and social pressure to restrict the right to read throughout the country including Hudson Valley. ... As a result of my attendance at this conference I have expanded the network of allies to call upon during book challenges. ... I was heartened to be in a room with others that I can call to the aid during materials challenges, and to be ready for others if needed." Christy Blanchette, Director, Valley Cottage Library
