Opportunities
The Great Give Back
The Great Give Back is a day for libraries to provide opportunities for their patrons to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences, and shine a light on the great work libraries are doing in their evolving roles as community hubs and connectors. This year, The Great Give Back
will be on Saturday, October 17.  Once again, RCLS member libraries will have the opportunity to participate in this statewide effort. To learn more, visit The Great Give Back website.
IMLS CARES Act Grants for Museums and Libraries
IMLS recognizes the challenges facing museums and libraries at this time, including the adaptations and adjustments that will be necessary to rebuild staffing, reopen facilities, and address the needs of communities affected by the impact of a global crisis. This grant opportunity is for over $13 million, and IMLS is anticipating 90 grant awards in the range of $25,000-$500,000 for grant periods of up to two years.

 Dewey Fellowship Award
The Library & Leadership Management Section (LAMS) of the New York Library Association (NYLA) is seeking candidates for the Dewey Fellowship award to attend the 2020 NYLA Conference in Saratoga, in person or virtually. The Dewey Fellowship pays for up to $1,000 of the cost to attend the NYLA conference.  For more information, visit the NYLA website.  Deadline for nominations is Tuesday, June 30.

PLA Virtual Conference Author Interviews
The Public Library Association (PLA) released the Virtual Conference Author Interviews that were recorded during the February conference in Nashville. You can listen to interviews with award-winning authors Kevin Wilson, Ann Patchett, and Alice Randall. Access the audio recordings by visiting the PLA website.
NYS Talking Book and Braille Library Service
The New York State Talking Book and Braille Library (TBBL) restarted its mail delivery service as of June 1 for TBBL patrons. Patrons are also encouraged to register for the free Braille and Audio Reading Download service (BARD), which provides immediate access to audio and electronic braille books, magazines, and music scores through Android, iOS, or Kindle devices, TBBL issued digital players, and other third-party devices.

Leadership Circle - Project Management 101 Webinar
Thursday, July 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Due to the popularity of this topic, this Leadership Circle event is made available to all RCLS member library staff.  Project management is the practice of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve a specific goal.  During this workshop, we will explore how integrating project management practices into your library’s culture can increase efficiency, improve communication, and lead to improved project execution at every level.
Presenter:  Ron Kirsop, Executive Director of the Pioneer Library System, received his Project Management Professional certification in May of 2019 from the Project Management Institute.

RCLS Board Meeting
   The materials for the Monday, June 15, RCLS Board Meeting are now on the RCLS Website.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. via BlueJeans.  For dial-in information, contact Grace Riario, Executive Director (ext. 233 or griario@rcls.org).  This is an open meeting and all are invited to attend.
   In keeping with Executive Order 202.14 (regarding emergency adjustments to the Open Meetings Law in response to the COVID-19 pandemic), the public is not permitted in-person access to this meeting, and the meeting shall be held remotely via BlueJeans online meeting software.  As required by the Governor’s Order, the public will have the ability to view and listen to such proceeding (BlueJeans Link), and the meeting shall be recorded, and made available on the RCLS website.
