101: Basic Library Trustee Education
Three professional development trainings will be held in early 2021.  The dates to choose from are January 12, February 9 and March 9.  All sessions will begin at 7:00 PM via Zoom.
Registration is now open via the RCLS Calendar.  These sessions are designed to give new trustees a basic understanding of their duties and responsibilities.
They will cover basic financial practices, essential laws, and other critical information needed to ensure confidence in serving as a Library Board member and as a voice in the community.  The items covered in these sessions are limited; it is advised that attendees familiarize themselves with the New York State Trustee Handbook, which can be accessed online or a print copy can be sent to you upon request.  Email Grace Riario if you wish to receive copies of the Handbook prior to these educational training sessions.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Mid-Hudson Library System’s Roeliff Jansen Community Library in Hillsdale is excited to announce the addition of a dual-port electric vehicle charging station to their parking lot, which can charge up to two cars at once.  It is located near the library's front entrance and electric car owners can use the charging station at a rate of $0.35 per kilowatt hour.  The charging station was installed as part of the repaving project, and was sponsored by New York State's Charge Ready NY program, which is administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).  If you would like to learn more about Charge Ready NY, New York State's initiative to get more electric cars and trucks on the road, visit NYSERDA's website at nyserda.ny.gov.
