PROPOSALS SOUGHT! Last call to submit proposals to the 2024 Banned Books Symposium: Proactive, Reactive, Supportive If you are interested in presenting, November 15, 2023. Accepted proposals will receive notification by December 8, 2023. Questions regarding the proposals may be directed to Jen Park, Government Relations Specialist at Ramapo Catskill Library System, at jen@rcls.org. This Symposium is in partnership with Southeastern New York Library Resources Council, Ramapo Catskill Library System, Mid-Hudson Library System, SUNY New Paltz and BOCES School Library Systems of Dutchess, Orange-Ulster, Rockland, Sullivan, and Ulster.

APPLY TO BECOME A DIGITAL NAVIGATOR! The application for Digital Navigators of the Hudson Valley Winter 2024 session, which will run January 2024 - March 2024, is now open for individuals affiliated with libraries and organizations in the Hudson Valley. The program is open to anyone who works at a library or a community-based organization that would like to offer Digital Navigator services to their patrons. This cohort is open to individuals who have previously trained as a Digital Navigator and those who are new to the program. RCLS at Rockland County YouthFest This annual event will be held on Sunday, November 19th at the Rockland Community College Fieldhouse 145 College Road, Suffern, NY 10901 from 11:00am - 3:00pm Interact with many of the services available to children, youth and families in Rockland County under one roof with no admission fee Stop by and visit with us!

♦♦♦♦♦ CONGRATULATIONS! ♦♦♦♦♦ Mamakating Library located in Wurtsboro, New York has been designated a “Certified Sustainable Library” through the Sustainable Libraries Initiative’s award-winning Sustainable Libraries Certification Program Library Director Cheryl Jones remarked on their achievement: “Our community has been very supportive of this effort all along the way...Also, our monthly Sustainability Corner column in our newsletter has been regularly cited by patrons as a catalyst for small changes they have made in their own households and that is one of the things we are most proud of—not only that our library is certified sustainable, but that our patrons are inspired to be more mindful about their own actions and choices as well."
