Advocacy Alert
Library Stabilization Fund Act
The American Library Association (ALA) is actively advocating for the Library Stabilization Fund Act, introduced in both chambers of Congress by Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and Representative Andy Levin (D-MI), respectively, on July 2. The legislation would establish a $2 billion fund, administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), to address financial losses and bolster library services, with priority to the hardest-hit communities.
Library advocates are encouraged to use ALA’s Online Advocacy Center to urge your Representatives and Senators to cosponsor the Library Stabilization Fund Act.

We applied and won! Thanks for passing the info on to all the libraries and giving us the opportunity to apply for donations like these."

The Amazing Chase
The Albert Wisner Public Library Children’s Department held its first annual Family Scavenger Hunt called The Amazing Chase from June 25 to 27. The event was a huge success with over 50 participants playing on 15 teams. The game was monitored through a private Facebook group that was set up by library staff. Teams were given a list of 55 missions (tasks) to complete to earn points. Two missions that were included were: Post a video of your team singing a nursery rhyme and post a picture of your team eating outside at a local restaurant. When a mission was completed, the teams posted a picture, video or document showing them completing the mission to the Facebook page to receive their points. A scoreboard was posted continuously throughout the game, which was updated frequently for teams to see where they stood. The winning team – Team Stewart Sleepy Stripy Caterpillars – earned 870 points from a possible 940 points. They took home the trophy and bragging rights. All teams that scored over 100 points received a bag of prizes. All teams that scored over 300 points got a chance to win a pizza party gift certificate for Luca Trattoria, one of Warwick’s favorite pizza restaurants. The library received great feedback from participants; therefore, the Children’s Department is already planning another Scavenger Hunt for the Fall.
