Great Give Back 2020
This fall RCLS member libraries are invited to join libraries from all over New York State to connect patrons with opportunities to help their neighbors by participating in meaningful, service oriented experiences such as donation drives, cards of encouragement, environmental clean-up events, and other community service projects as part of The Great Give Back (GGB) on Saturday, October 17th. Libraries are catalysts and conveners, working to respond to the needs of the people in the community and The Great Give Back gives us a chance to shine a light on this work and connect more people with what's going on at their local library.  Visit https://thegreatgiveback.org/ for more information.

Library Support Staff Scholarship
NYLA’s New York Black Librarian Caucus (NYBLC) roundtable’s Andrew P. Jackson Library Support Staff Scholarship is offered in recognition of 36 years of dedicated service to the library profession by Andrew P. Jackson, Director-Emeritus at Queens Public Library’s Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center.

A scholarship of a minimum of $500 up to $1,000 will be awarded during the fall semester.               Application deadline is
October 15, 2020.

ALSC 2020 National Institute goes virtual
Due to the continuing concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Association for Library Service to Children has announced that the 2020 National Institute will be held virtually, in lieu of the originally planned in-person event in Minneapolis, October 1–3. The virtual event will feature a variety of key author and illustrator panels, programs, training, and virtual networking opportunities. The National Institute Task Force is working closely with ALSC staff to transition to a virtual platform. The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is driven by more than 4,000 members dedicated to the support and enrichment of library service to children. The membership includes youth librarians, literature experts, publishers and educational faculty.
