Panel Discussion: Librarians of Color and Diversity in Libraries
Wednesday, July 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Librarianship is not immune to racism. Those who work in librarianship still have to reckon with the racism and lack of diversity that pervades the field. To discuss their experiences being Librarians of Color and what Diversity in Libraries really means, RCLS and the Coalition for Library Workers of Color welcome panelists Richard Ashby, Jr., Sandra Echols and Taina Solano. Details and registration for this virtual program can be found on the RCLS Calendar.

“Ask the Lawyer”
The Recently Asked Questions feature of the Western New York Library Resources Council's (WNYLRC) "Ask the Lawyer" column has answers that may be relevant to your library.  Some of the questions posed concern:  Music rights during online graduation ceremonies; does a library need a disclaimer stating it is not responsible for COVID-19 cases?; acceptable use policy for local organizations that meet online using the library's Zoom account; and more.  View the WNYLRC website for these answers.

Library Sidewalk Obstacle Courses
WebJunction, June 11
Many libraries are thinking about how they can engage their communities safely by taking programs and services outside, such as through story walks and scavenger hunts. At WebJunction, Noah Lenstra compiled a roundup of more than a dozen sidewalk obstacle courses on library grounds from Alaska to Nebraska to North Carolina.

Narcan or No?
American Libraries, June 1
Anne Ford writes: “If your library were offered two chances to save a life, would it take them? The response might seem like an obvious ‘yes.’ But for many public libraries the answer is more nuanced."
