Back to School Blood Drive 
The American Red Cross Blood Drive
Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Auditorium/Lewisville Branch parking lot
 
The American Red Cross mobile lab will be onsite at the Lewisville Branch Library on Wednesday, Aug. 13 for blood and platelet donations. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. 
 
Make an Appointment:
To make an appointment for our blood drive, please contact the Lewisville Branch Library at 336-703-2940 or register online. Appointments are in 15-minute increments, and you can use the RapidPass option the day of the drive to help decrease your wait time. Walk-ins are also welcome. Visit the American Red Cross website for tips on things to do before, during, and after your blood donation.

Adult Programs 
Belly Dancing for Beginners
Friday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m.

Get your shimmy on! Put on some comfortable clothes and shoes and join us at Belly Dancing for Beginners. learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as we bring people of all ages together to promote health, happiness, and community. The classes are recommended for adults 55+ and suitable for all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. Signed waivers are required to participate. Hook & Loop Group
Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m.

Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider, and such. Share each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. Yoga for Beginners

Color & Coffee

Unwind with a relaxing morning of coloring, coffee, and community. Coloring sheets, colored pencils, and coffee will be provided. Call 336-703-2940 for more information.   
**New** Tai Chi for Beginners
Friday, Aug. 8 and 22 at 2 p.m.

Learn the calming practice of Tai Chi at the Lewisville Branch Library. This form of low-impact exercise and deep breathing is known to reduce stress and improve balance, strength, and flexibility.
 
An exercise waiver is required, and attendees younger than 18 must have a parental/guardian's signature.  Registration opens two weeks before each class and is required. 
Books for Dudes Book Club
Thursday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m.

Are you a dude who likes to read? Are you a dude who is curious what other dudes are reading? Are you a dude who wants to get back into reading, but doesn’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join us as dudes share, discuss, and recommend their favorite books to other dudes. There will not be a pre-set reading list. The group is recommended for dudes, but all are welcome. 
Witchy Washi & Whatnot Crafting
Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m.

Our monthly Witchy Washy & Whatnot Crafting group is a great way to meet other crafters and learn to make all sorts of fun projects, many of which include the use of washi tape! 
Space and supplies are limited, and registration is required. 
Computer Training Bridge: Creating a Gmail Account

The Write Stuff

The Write Stuff is a peer-to-peer writing group where writers aspiring and published authors of all types can brainstorm, provide feedback, and offer accountability to those seeking to finish their writing projects. The group is facilitated by local writing enthusiast Clay Stuart.
FCPL Lewisville Branch Reading Contest
Logs due Dec. 13

Take part our yearlong reading contest for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Bookmarks. The contest has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both levels. Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if both levels are completed, you're entered four times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 13. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 15.

Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group for Teens

Have you ever wanted to learn to play Dungeons & Dragons? Are you an experienced player who would like a place to meet up and have adventures? Join the Lewisville Branch Dungeons & Dragons meetup group! The game board, dice, and character sheets will be provided. This program is recommended for teens, but all are welcome. The Lewisville Branch Library Newsletter Turns Eight!
We're celebrating our eighth anniversary of the Lewisville Branch's Monthly Newsletter. We started with 24 recipients in August 2017 and it has grown to 1922 active subscribers over the past eight years. We gained 187 new subscribers this past year alone! We'd love your feedback on how we're doing.

Board Member
The Friends of the Lewisville Library Board is looking for new members. As a board member, you'd take an active role in shaping the future of the organization, allocating funds, fundraising and recruiting new members. If you're looking for a way to volunteer in your community and support the library at the same time, then this is a perfect place to start. The board meets 
at the Lewisville Branch Library
every third Monday at 6:30 p.m. except in July.
